Hey folks...really like the look of road legal super motos but know nothing much about them. (35, CBT and riding a 125...bored of it Smile )

Sooo what supermoto would you recommend for a commuter travelling some town, dual carriageway and country roads. Something with a bit of speed/poke and something that doesn't require servicing every 5 mins.

Cheers Smile

The only 125 supermoto I can think of is a Yamaha DT125X. Other smaller makes such as Derbi may also have suitable offerings.

The Suzuki DR-Z400SM and Yamaha XT600X come to mind. KTM do a few as well. There are quite a lot of conversions from trailies/off roaders to supermotos that people have done on eBay and similar places - things like Honda XRs and CRs, and so forth.

I forgot about Husqvarna Rolling Eyes

Have a look at Husaberg, too.

For pure road use, and commuting etc id have to reccomend the Honda FMX650. The Yamaha XT660SM is a nice bike too, but i think it just looks and feels heavy, and it's not that much faster than the Honda or a Suzuki DRZSM. The Suzuki however is far less of a comfortable road bike and not really suited to long journeys do to its poor comfort and basic equipment levels.

If money isn't too tight then the ultimate road SM has to be the KTM Duke, it's fast and still more reliable than most other powerful SM bikes, and it's also very road biased in it's set up and design, which is what you probably want.

The FMX650 looks nice, but it's incredibly low powered (37bhp), even for a single.

Husaberg,Husqvarnaare with out a doubt the best but need servicing every 5 mins
the fmx it heavy slow
ktm lc4 great bike vibes are worse than most motos but cracking bike all the same
ccm cheap longest service intervals of all the supermotos
not the fastest but are cheaply tuned
heres a pic of my ccm this is worth £1500 max and its tuned to the max so theres plenty of cheap good ones about there are a few problems to watch out for but ill tell ya about that if you decide to go for 1
