Check it out, it runs!!!
I was suprised to see that after all the work ive done to it, it started pretty much straight off the button.

The baffle i made for the exhaust seems to be keeping it at a nice level but it sounds awesome still.

Video here, its under 1mb:

Well i went for a blast on it.
Its really fast, however the jetting is completely messed up.
It stutters at low throttle positions and when crusing or at speed.
Im gonna try and get a dynojet kit for it.

I think part of the problem is me using the zephyrs airbox, so ill see about getting pods or making the GPX one fit.

My FZR seems to do this; it never seems settled in any gear in town, does nt mind the revs but hard to get the bike smooth.

How is this solved? Dyno test? Strip and carb rebuild?

It will be a jetting problem, cleaning the carbs would be a good start because its free. Could possibly just be carbs out of balance.
A dyno test will show the problem aswell, but its fairly expensive.

Anyone know the cost of setting up carbs on a dyno? I think im gonna have to.

Pass, the run only costs £20-30 I think, however, as you said to make changes costs a little more.

I was going to ask where you got the tubing for the exhaust and then I see the bed frame Embarassed Was it easy to redirect the exhaust? The idea of making an underseat exhaust does appeal Wink

It was a piece of cake. The welding was probably the hardest bit, but we just made a mess and then cleaned it up with an angle grinder.

It was just a case of cutting a corner and putting it on the downpipes, then making a rough guess of the next piece and cutting that, taping it on each time and just gradually building up the shape, cutting bits down and adding more pieces like a puzzle. Once it was all taped up we marked where the pieces join and then tack welded them all.

It looks easy enough to do, always fancied a go at welding. As you said, just angle grinder them clean Laughing

Bike looks good by the way Thumbs Up

Very nice indeed!

Why not have belly Exhausts Very Happy ...

Cant remember which bike had them, was it the buell or something?

But have them underneath, that would look quite cool, but you need to do something about your exhaust anyways, could be project number 2 Very Happy, lol ...

I might be doing a similiar thing, when i have my Full License, putting a 650 into my 125 [Dont worry the 125 Model used the 650 Frame] ...

Luke.
Thumbs Up

P.S. Get a longer Vid, that sounded pretty ace!

Nice project. Clapping
What are going to do with the old zephyr engine? If you are selling the parts, can I have the right side timing rotor cover?
