Derestricted my bike today, by grounding the green/black wire, no other mods done.

Was disappointed to find that the top speed hasn't improved, getting 70!

Wondering what top speeds others are getting.

Will certainly look into it, but I still expected a change to max speed.

Appreciate your suggestion.

put a new pipe on it and you will feel the extra power in the lower gears and unless you are BIG! you will get mayby another 10mph on the top end.
the nephew can get his to 85 down hill with his head on the clocks.
its a sit up 125 its never going to be fast.

I don't think that grounding the wire has made a difference to the performance!?

Went for a couple of test rides today, with it restricted and derestricted got the same speeds through the gears?

im not entirly to sure about the dt but other bikes when you do that
all its doing is removing the rev limiter nothing abot the engine has changed so you arn't going to get any more it just means you can rev it higher,

For the 05+ models it is different but from what I've gathered -

1) take the headlight off, find the block connector with the black and green wires going to it. Disconnect then earth the wire, like you say you've done this!

2) Buy yourself a full DEP system, before fitting it check where it connects onto the expansion chamber for a restriction washer. It shouldn't have one but some do, if it does pop it off with a screwdriver. Now your exhaust is fully derestrcited.

3) Intake is the next bit. either but a foam bolt on filter or modify the stock airbox. Remove the cover but leave the foam filter in. (I would personally buy something like a ramair filter).

4)If the carb is a 28mm Mikuni like on the old models whack in a 220 mainjet (racespec.co.uk sell them) you can also lower the clip on the needle to the bottom, this will make the bike run slightly richer but give it more fuel. Only needed if you've modified exhaust and intake, don't use a 220 mainjet on stock setup.

5)examine reed block for restrictions, possibly add carbon fibre reeds.

6)adjust and open the powervalve.

one you've done athat to the servo you should notice less torque in lower RPM but more snap at high RPM and hopefully more speed.

Other than those things you can't really do much, sprockets are an option, just don't over gear or it will have trouble pulling til 10,00rpm and against wind etc.

Also the CDI's are restricted, I think the pre-96 UK DT CDIs are free from restrictions as are foreign DT CDIs so try get your hands on one! :d

The most i've had so far out of my derestricted, 05 DT125X is 80mph (before i have to slow down because it's rattling so much it's going to spit me off Laughing), and 85 ish down hill.

It's only a 125 tho, so i don't really expect it to go any faster.
