Looking at a DR650

Hello, long time no see. Been busy I'm afraid!

I have an opportunity to buy a DR 650. I am getting a terrible trade in price for my Shadow, and it is in a properly gherish colour scheme, but despite that, the bike seems to have 'grabbed' me.

My first impressions would be that it's too uncomfy and slow for long road journies, and a bit too heavy for fun off road, but is it in reality? Does anybody have any experience of them?

I am really thinking of giving it a go, it could be the best of both worlds, or a big waste of cash, I dunno, do you?

IMHO the big dr is a teriffic bike IF you have the ability to contol it (offroad).

TBH, I don't know what year, model, or even what mileage it is! From a first look, it is quite tidy, very tidy in fact.

If it has been used as intended, it has been well cared for, more than likely though it has just had a very gentle life. It's up for 1195 (the pound sign on my board just gives me a # )

I have a guy interested in my ZZR, if he takes it, I will have enough to do the trade in against the Shadow...mmmm... Wink

I will be commuting on it every day, about 40 miles return, and will hopefully be doing a fair bit of laning aswell. I will also probably be doing some low mileage touring on it, trips like Scotland and Wales. Russia is not a likely candidate for a trip though. Shocked

Yep sounds fine, it will commute & tour with no problems.

The biggy is if it has a electric start ! IF not make sure you can start it by the kicker, not every one can , its not a big deal for me as have become a bit of a expert kicking my KTM Embarassed

Its a bit of an art and beats going to the gym, problem is if you get it wrong it really can hurt Thumbs Down

It is a kicker actually! I am of a 'well built' physique, i.e. a fat fucker, so I have plenty of gravitational assistance to help get it going.

Would make a good haggling point though. Smile
