why the resistor?? is there some sort of security thing on the bike? normally the key ignition acts as a normal switch

Depends what you are trying to do - you might have to replace the ignition switch with some other kind of switch, otherwise the bike may go into a state where the electrics are powered up but the engine is disabled (by the kill switch). In such a state, the battery would go flat.

If you're making a track bike or something, that could be as simple as disconnecting the battery when you are not using it.

finpos.

Hi finpos
yes i know what you mean iv spoke to a few people and and thay have seen it done on zx6r before the power up and power off riged up to the kill switch. to be honest i think im out of my depth with all this wiring lark i thought i might be able to do it if i had a step by step guide on how to do it. im now thinking i might have to get someone to modify the loom for me ie sorting the kill switch problem and take out all the wiring not required ie the clutch switch, kick stand switch and all the other wiring not needed like the lighting,
