|
|
Hi, i need help on which way the piston rings go on my piston. Both of the piston rings say R and 1.25(the oversize) near the gap of the rings and thats all they say. one of the rings is wider than the other, does this one go on top or bottom Also which way do they go on. They both have a little slant when the rings gap, like shown in this little picture:P

Is it the top or bottom way?
thanks

In the picture of the rings, i put the piston there so that it shows that th rings will go down on the piston(Don't think i make sense )

Looks like a 2-stroke piston ring. If so the retaining pin will determine the way up to install them. In any case, the "rule of thumb" is that piston rings are always installed with any writing to the top. I've yet to see it done different (though I don't doubt there must be exceptions) ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

So we werent wrong. Found it hard to believe we were wrong above.
And being a new piston, the ring spaces will be tight. Snap your old ring in half and run the sharp bit around the piston ring spaces to run off the burs.

It sure is. I was assuming that his "sloped" ends in the drawing were actually "scollop" cutouts for the stop-pin.
KCNW9 what bike is this for? ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'
