Could be interesting, but can BMW actually make a light bike?
If it's not, if it does manage to be reliable and not be too stupidly heavy it could be a quite interesting adventure/dessert rally style bike.

They are going on about traction, but I don't really see anything new there. Looks like it uses a standard rear suspension design, but maybe with a bit longer shock than normal.

I like the look of that. i wonder if they will bring it to the Uk and When. They dont look as 'big and heavy' as the 650 series do.

You cant realy tell from a pic!

Thumbs Up Karma

good finde

According to the local dealer they are 5600 and due in May to the UK but servicing is measured in hours so no good for me.

shame about the servicing, that puts me off!
Why have it so highly tuned (no point making it road legal) whats the point. You ride there, change oil; go ride it, change oil, then go home and do a full engine rebuild. lol

Good value for money there! yeah right

Presumably it's a competition bike, so expected to be competitive Smile.

It certainly looks the business. I imagine that the service won't be as short as your dealer has been saying.

The 60 hour service interval officially listed for the Aprilia off-road twins is generally considered to be a bit too long, I believe. Some places are suggesting that it be halved.

Oh? That really is quite ridiculous. Must cost a fortune to maintain. What sort of services do they suggest? ie. new top end or just lubrication

My Husaberg is listed as 10 hours for lubrication, less if used for a decent level of competition of supermoto use.

These are competition bikes designed to be run in competition - then prodded in the intervening time 'till the next competitive event.

Imagine having a 250cc GP bike on the road - we're talking not far off that kind of level.

By the looks of it BMW are trying to venture into the competetive market (450s) and thus these bikes are going to be similar in style to CRFs, WRs/YZs, KLXs and RMXs thus why is it such a shock that distance/times between services is so similar, BMW may be good at building bikes that stand the test of time, but no matter who builds an engine if it is in similar states of tune it will require more looking after/maintenance!
