Picked up a copy of Motorcycle Sport and Leisure the other day, and it had a feature on the Overland Terra Mostro, a Ducati Monster-based offroad/dual sports bike.

Lovely looking thing, looks nicely engineered too:

Apparently Ducati are thinking of making their own off-road sort of thing, because the market for such things in America is massive. Would be interesting to see what they'd come up with. Or whether they'll just re-engineer the Hypermotard.

What I didn't know is that the Cagiva Elefant was originally a Ducati design but the project was moved to Cagiva.

That looks awesome, would be interesting to see something like that with a nice big sports lump in, something like an old gixxer 1100, not for any reason other than a laugh.

Apparently they only used the 620 engine in the bike because offroad the bigger engines had too much torque so they spent the whole time battling wheelspin.
