Here

Brand new wavy disc for under 50? I thought genuine standard discs were near 100?

Seems a bargain to me!

It's made by KAGIZUME.

So cheap chinese shite. Didn't someone from here buy a cheapo set of disks off ebay and they were rubbish and started to crack/warp or something?

I would only be putting top quality stuff into my braking system. Galfer, Braking, PFM etc. etc.

FOr a CBR but:

Rear discs are cheaper as theres next to nothing to them.

Cant see the point in wavey discs either but each to their own. Laughing Thumbs Up

You're probably thinking of Instigator's rear disc..

What actually are the benefits over standard discs? I imagine all they do if dissipate heat faster but that's all I can think of.

AFAIK the only improvement they have over 'standard' discs is a slight reduction in (unsprung) weight and gyroscopic forces - but i sincerely doubt there are many riders on here good enough to notice the slight difference. I believe they originated on MX bikes where the wavey shape is used to clean dirt & debris from the pads - on a road bike this has the sole effect of eating through pads at an increased rate.
Again AFAIK they may actually reduce braking performance by a slight amount because there is less surface area there for the pads to bite on - again, i doubt there are many on here who'd be able to notice the small difference.
IMHO the only thing they offer to a roadbike is that they look pretty trick - but personally i'll be sticking with my 'standard' shape discs.

Supposedly has "pad cleaning" properties, whatever that means, but yes better heat dissipation. I seem to remember WSS bikes used to use them, so can't be complete tosh.

I actually forked out 350 for a set of galfers for my NC30 and they are actually heavier than standard.

the discs give a much better initial bite and do make a difference when it comes to feel.
not too sure if they are worth the money as I only done about 250 miles before swapping my engine so havent ridden it since.
