Hi all
I'm new on here and thought Id Let anyone interested in a run on the plain this coming Monday.

We are planning a spin on the Plain on Easter Monday. On the west side and then over to Tilshead for some grub and then back on the same track.
If you`ve not done the plain before have a go. its great fun.
You can either stay on the gravel tracks with plenty of pot holes or have a go in the tank tracks that run along side (nice and muddy in there and lots of BIG puddles to play in.

Details can be found on my site.
Come and get muddy, you know you want too

www.bobtrotter.co.uk then go on the `getting dirty on a weekend` page.

cheers

Enigma from bristolbikers pointed me towards your site a few days ago. I thought you had the wrong date down for the easter monday, you had it as the 17th so I assumed you'd already gone.

Anyway, I sent you an email yesterday.

Would love to join you but I'm otherwise engaged this monday.

Wouldn't mind doing some green laning around Bristol though at some point.

Max,

Welcome. Am total newbie to the whole trail thing. Just bought a KLR 650 to take to morocco this summer and want to get some experience of it on trails. Will a 650 be alright on Salisbury plain do you think? Maybe depends on the rider I suppose.

What is the legal status of the place? I get the impression from your site that you can just bez around at will.

All being well would be ace to join you one weekend (if you think the KLR is not a totally shit idea!!).

best,

Luke

Hi Luke
I don't see why not.
the Plain has a mixture of surfaces to ride on where we went yesterday.

There are some gravel tracks with a few, sometimes a lot of pot holes to bump along in.
There are the tank tracks that are fun to ride on if you don't mind getting wet.
And some soft mud to skid about in.

Over the next few days or so I will put a video of our run on youtube. do a serch for maxv77 and your find my videos. You will see the type of tracks I mentioned above.

I was trying to get 2 lads who have never been off roading before to come out yesterday on the plain on there 250 KTMs. But they couldn't make it.

They did do some lanes with us around here on Sunday but didn't get on to well.
I lost count of the times they both fell off.
The plain would have been a much better place for them.

Some paths can be closed by the MOD.
I would suggest you start at Tilshead as that's pretty much in the centre of the plain with tracks going in all directions.
So your know what`s open or closed at the start.
Or keep an eye on this for anyone looking to go out.

Every time we have been there we aim for the Rose and Crown in Tilshead. Other riders often turn up around lunch time for a snack.
Or at the garage to fill up.
Ask to join in and I'm sure they will be happy for you to do so.

happy riding.
Max

p.s.
legal status is the same as any byway.
but can be closed by the MOD.
