Silly question time guys but i am looking at buying either an old crosser or maybe if i can get a 1999/2000 KTM EXC cheap, the thing is up here there are more EXC 200's for sale than 125's is the 200 going to be to much for me right now? I currently own a DTR which i know has nothing near the power of an EXC 200 my brother has a 200 but it is fitted out with a FMF race exhaust not the enduro type. So even if i get a shot of the EXC the way it is set up right now its more like a SX200 than the EXC200 which wouldn't give me the right idea of what an EXC is like to ride. Any help welcome plus i might get a shot this weekend Smile.

The EXC200 should be fine - a fair bit more power than the DT maybe, but still nothing compared to plenty of other people's 'first big bikes'.
The EXC200 is supposed to be particularly good as far as teaching people to ride fast without scaring them too much.

An aftermarket exhaust is unlikely to make /that/ much difference in the power unless it's had a lot of other stuff done - so it should give you a reasonable idea of what to expect.

The valves are probably tappets - so pretty easy to check.

My Hussy's running ok, just needs a new rear tyre (coming this week), so if you want a decent play on that for comparison I should be about on it in the next month Smile.
