I bought a decent condition CCM404 (DRZ engine, better suspension, brakes etc) for £2k.

You don't specify whether you want the S, E or SM.
But the answer should pretty much be 'yes' regardless.

Personally, I wouldn't say they should really be an object of /that/ great desire Smile.

They use exactly the same engine as the DRZ - maintenance is exactly the same as the DRZ.

While they may not have japanese consistency, they do have better quality bars, suspension brakes etc. Don't think they particularly 'break easily'.

I'd go for the CCM (and did).
Have a look in the sticky at the top of show and tell, from there, there's a link to my review of mine.

Well i bought this.... baby... She is called SUZI

I think the only 'let down' is that CCM404 plastics are a little tacky.. I've seen the 604 up close and the owner told me this. However i heard the engine is tuned up very slightly by CCM on the 404. I'd like one but when looking i could only find a good one at £2700, which was easily £500 overpriced. lol.

For £1950 inc the restrictor you can pick up an 02 or 52 plate drz S (go for the S as its alot better for road riding, the E version has to have a road kit fitted, but does have a little more power)...

When looking for mine (i spent well over 3months with the cash burning a hole in my pocket) i found that most of the E's were a little ragged. Mine was tatty but only had 3000miles and was ridden by a middle aged trail rider for the first 3years of its life!

Not sure what you mean by 'tacky' plastics. Seem reasonable quality on mine. They are acerbis plastics I believe - the seat and side panels from a RM250 or something.

£2700 isn't /that/ bad if that was with both sets of wheels if you compare what you're getting to a DRZ. Not so great with just one set of wheels.

I like the fact the manual comes with suspension settings for different road and off-road uses.

As far as I know, the engine is pretty much the standard DRZ-E engine - which is obviously a bit better than the S, so that might be what it's being compared to.

The WP Suspension is miles above the DRZ S.

... Must be just the carb which is different to the S version!

Seem to remember that it was one set of wheels

It's the same carb that's in the E I believe - FCR41?

There's a few other differences in the 'E' engines to the S/SM, which give them a few more ponies.

e uses a 39 fcr dude instead of the 36m odd cv shite on the s, also the ccm has diff cams to s model. i found the ccm cheap when you look close up. id go for an e model if i had to have a drizzle. Laughing

My mate is now tempted to go for a lower cc more trail biased bike.. (something like a wr250 or ttr250) . He would go for a drz if the right one came up though.
