PostPosted: 19:00 - 09 May 2008    Post subject: Project VFR NC30... Son of babygix lazarus RIP Reply with quote

about a month ago i got talking to this guy in a pub who picked up on my jacket and we got talking... turns out he has a ducati 1098 etc... had from new. im like Shocked jammy git!

anyway, we get talking about the bikes we've had.

he used to ride around on a VFR400 NC30 that had a full service before he retired it, and now its just sitting there.

i told him about my GSXR400 experience and how awesome the little 400's are! then i asked how much he would want for me to take the VFR off his hands...

£400 he said... of course, i was VERY interested, but i half expected it to be a banged up shitter.

heres the pics he showed me.
now, he told me that the screen got broken when he swung a ladder around and caught it, which sounds reasonable as theres no damage or anything to the rest of the bike.

https://img364.imageshack.us/img364/8652/motorbike028xo5.jpg

so what do the masses think?
im going to see it on tuesday, then buying it on thursday if i like what i see!

for £400 it seems amazingly cheap. especially for an NC30

i personally hate the exhaust, but i could sell it and get a stock one... it looks expensive! (and also costs more than £400 for the full system new;) )

i plan to do it up and sell it on for about £1200... sound realistic?

cheers viffer queers xxx

Yes, it`s very cheap indeed, must be worth looking at, it could be genuine, if it`s good get it, you could break the bike and still make money on it. Very Happy Thumbs Up Thumbs Up -Jockey.

by the looks of it, its just a clean up, oil change and MOT!

Looks like the exhaust is worth more than the rest of the bike combined Laughing

Check these

Is it stolen ?
does the guy actually own a 1098 or is he a pikie selling a hookie bike ?
Does it work
suspention, brakes etc OK

For £400 its probably a safe bet, so long as its not stolen.

Agreed, £400 would have me reaching for the overdraft.

Just check it doesn't have a squillion miles on the clock. Looks a good buy to me. Be very very warey if it doesn't have a V5.

You could get around a grand for that after a wash and an eBay.
Personally I'd keep the Viffer.
