Thanks guys!
Lol, that bike against the wall was a bit of a spares bike to be honest. Came in dead handy! I could have a go at getting it going with a spare engine, but just for a mess around bike, i wouldnt be able to put it on the road as its a police confiscation bike.
Hopefully im gonna have a years MOT on it by this time next week, just searching for the cheapest quotes now and i should be away!
Yeah, Ive rode her for a short while and as im not insured it was on a field Was great fun though, runs like a dream now
Cheers, Ant. |

To anyone interested and 'repliers' of this thread.. thought i might aswell do a bit of an update.
About the VIC, it basically failed and they wanted me to have an SVA, new VIN etc. etc. I couldnt a) finance it and b) be paticularly bothered with the process. So i sourced me another frame for £25 form coventry, problem solved Now have a new plate, still a 1980 just a 'W' not a 'V'.
Well, a couple of weeks ago it was stolen from my garage and to cut a long story short, i got it back and only had to replace the ignition switch and its holder along with numerous dents and scratches which ive tried to disguise.
So, ordered a new switch and holder, and actually found out the old switch was the wrong one thus making thing that didnt previously work (back light and headlight) now working strangely.
Soo, V5 from the new frame came through, switch rigged up and in place, front end replaced, steering lock installed and a bit of a service/touch-ups and i took it the MOT station yesterday.
Eventually came home with a rejection sheet with three failures. Headlight aim too low, rear light does not illuminate (crossed wire Couldnt check as only bought the bulb at the test station) and footrest bent too far over.
So, adjusted the headlight screw, changed the wiring for the back light and fitted some better footrests and i took it back yesterday afternoon and came home with a pass certificate!
So, today i finalised things with the insurance company, sending me my cover note first class today, d'ya think it'll come by tomorrow?
So, then its tax and ill be away!

Awesome news. Have fun riding it
Just out of interest, could the frame in the background of one of your pictures be put back on the road? |

Cheers lads!
@ Mark, i bought that one from ebay, was stolen/recovered.. had its numbers but no plate so it would have been the same process as my original frame. Only good for a field bike really. Came in dead handy for spares though
So, you're out and about on the RX-S now, right?

Ah cool, youve got the best of both worlds then eh? Its been AGES since i had my T&G and the TS is way more fun, even if only a tiny bit faster.
Ah well, got the summer off now to practice and hopefully get the A2 done and out of the way, still keeping the TS though
@ Matt - Yeh, that old plate was mahoooosive! Got a new number now, so had a smaller plate made.. only standard size though, no one-liners lol.

Cheers guys
Shit news Xenocide No luck on it getting it back i suppose?
Nice one Satellite, Im watching your DT thread closely mate, good luck with it
Rezzin, the '99 will be the -X so quite different to the -ER, If the restricitions have stayed the same, he should check for a plate in the air filter, obviously the exhaut isnt a problem anymore, but they also have tiny carbs (15mm iirc). Might be an idea to PM JoeB46 off here, as he had an -X so might be able to give more details.

Old Thread Alert!
