To clear up planning permission issues.

As long as you're house isn't in a reservation area, or listed, and the garage isn't going to be closer than 5m to the house.

Then:

Rule L. The garage must be used for domestic purposes only.

Rule M. No part of the garage should be nearer to any road than the part of the original house nearest to the road.

Rule N. The height of the garage must not be more than 4 metres high if it has a ridged roof, or 3 metres in any other case.

Rule O. The ground area covered by the garage and any other buildings within the boundary of the property (excluding the original house) must not be more than half the total area.

If you can satisfy those, you don't need planning permission.
I don't really understand Rule O. I think it just means you can't make the garage bigger than half the remaining land after your house is taken out of the equation.

Check out that one. Not sure how long a wooden one would last in this country.

*quick update.

after seeing your thread i decided to cheat Laughing

paid 250 quid to a bloke and he dug out the whole base, laid me in the concrete floor, sloped all the sides off, he purchased and laid me 15 flag stones in front so I have somewhere to maneuver/wash the bike.

then went to argos and brought a steel shed.

total cost, 500 quid, IMO i've done quite well.

Nice space 2smoke. Thumbs Up

I do alright with my little garage and patio, but it get tiresome juggling the bikes around to make enough space to work.

This is the still the garage that I aspire to (yeah right):

Taken from page 6 of this thread on another forum. Mind blowing bike collection with garage to match. Shocked Shocked
