That looks sweet as fook Paul Thumbs Up
Should have built in some ultra blue LED downlights Wink
Personally I think the stop light is pretty cool, but quite agree with you on the indicators. If your looking for cool stop lights, the ones off the ZX636 B1 model look beastly.

I don't think it goes with the rest of the bike the tank and intakes are very curvy whereas the tail is sharpe and pointy.

I normally operate on the whole if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything but I'll make an exception and be a bit of a bastard. That looks remarkably like a Fireblade race tail unit that you fixed because it was cracked or something?

Either way, looks cool. I reckon a slightly curvier GSXR 1000 05 tail unit would look better though. Keep it up dude, damn sight better than I could do Thumbs Up

How hard is making stuff from fibreglass? And how expensive? Thinking about having a play about with the GPR Twisted Evil

Tail looks good man, agree with you about the indies though

Its not difficult just very time consuming. It doesn't really cost too much either. I do agree though if you get it wrong it makes the piece very heavy as the excess resin weighs quite alot.

Give it a go. just make sure you do it outside, the stuff stinks

Good work, that's impressive. I know how much of a bastard fibreglass is to work with.

Halfords is easist place to get it. I got

fibreglass resin
medium thickness fibreglass sheet packs (dunno how many I used)
fine fibreglass sheet
Hardening agent (to make the resin set)

I used a lid from a paint tin to dip the fibre glass sheets in (obviously I cut quite a few in advance).

I used plenty cheap paint brushes (as after one use I had to bin them).

I used wire mesh to build up areas.

I'm not sure how well fibreglass works with plastic. It seems to attach okay but I don't know how long it'll last.

I also used fibreglass body filler, both the thicker stuff and very fine stuff.

Its all a learning excerise for me. But it goes to show that you can build body parts in your bedroom/garage/kitchen.

I'll need to get some pictures of the headlight mould I've taken and my ongoing headlight mask project.

Karma have a Go: Definately recommended Thumbs Up

Here's what I'm doing for a custom headlight unit.

Vmax best looking h/light is the cybermax unit. unfortunately no matter what you do the light output is pants. in fact its sucks so much its not even as good as that.

So, I decided to make a fibreglass mould of the cyerbmax shell and then make a modified version with a light unit I think it be better suited to the job...

here goes...

the mould

https://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q73/funmonkee/vmaxtail/IMG_0463.jpg

I sprayed it black cos it looked like some dead animal i skin in bare fibreglass resin... Surprised

and here is the work in progress..

https://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q73/funmonkee/vmaxtail/IMG_0466.jpg

https://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q73/funmonkee/vmaxtail/IMG_0467.jpg

https://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q73/funmonkee/vmaxtail/IMG_0467.jpg

I'm going for a cyberman single alien headlight, so I cut a slot in the mask. I've still got to mount it in the mask properly and sucure it. Then I'll smooth out the outer surface of the mask before painting...satin black Thumbs Up

https://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q73/funmonkee/vmaxtail/IMG_0468.jpg

The biggest problem was making sure the fibreglass didn't stick. When making the mould I used clinge film to protect the original unit. I wouldn't do that again. I'd try for something stronger. Wasn't a disaster but it wasn't great.

When I made the mask from the fibreglass cast. I used alot of vasaleen and engine grease. If I did it again I'd want to find a better solution..as I've not much vasaleen left not engine grease Surprised
