Ah! But shiny = slippery.

And slippery = go faster. Laughing

not always...

For example..

golf balls are dimpled to cause turbulence around the surface of the ball. This turbulence prevents vortexes and laminar flow from forming which can cause instability. The presence of vortexes can cause the ball (helmet) to wobble and actually 'fly' in strange directions due to the pressure differences caused. Granted, with a helmet, there are possibly enough imperfections to cause turbulant, rather than laminar flow around the head, but still..

ever had your head 'wobbled' by the wind blast on your bike? That's you being subjected to vortexes

Doesn't really apply to the helmet scenario.. I'm just making the point that smoother and/or faster isn't necessarily better if it sacrifices control.

I'm not against people bumping posts because I don't tend to look at old threads so it's nice to have an interesting one pop up every now and then from a while ago Thumbs Up

Cheers Tutton Mr. Green

This is a really interesting idea. Ancient thread though but no less interesting. That's made me realise I can just paint my helmet for less than buying a new one...

Any ideas on where you can get helmet-specific spray paint?

Edit: It looks like Plasti-Kote or acrylic based paints should be suitable for it.
