Well it has been a long time coming but I have finally fitted my fairings, and I owe it all to mattp (korider.com) for giving me a method of mounting the upper fairings.

I bought a full set of fairings inc, headlight and clocks and also the full wiring loom of eBay but I go them quite some time ago (8 months to be precise) for £450

But when I got them I realised that I needed the little lugs welded onto the headstock.... see pic.....

https://w3.bikepics.com/pics/2008%5C10%5C13%5Cbikepics-1448382-full.jpg

So I have for a while been trying to find someone to weld on the 2 mounting points for me, but a lot of places were charging ridiculous prices or as soon as I said they would be welding the headstock quite close to the bearings then they said no straight away.

A week before mattp came along I was going to go get myself a small mig welder and do it myself as I have done some welding before but it has never been that good.

Then mattp came along....

Mattp mounted his simply by using a exhaust clamp....

65mm clamp around the headstock and the fairing mount holds the fairings surprisingly well. It is solid and doesn’t move an inch

This is Mattp’s

And this is mine...

Once it was on there as I was going to be using the GTR digital clocks I needed to replace the wiring loom to be able to run the digital clocks.

Now that was a bit scary.
I started from the back and worked my way forward disconnecting each connector from the old one and connecting the new one.

Next I had to remove the front wheel to fit the new Speedo sensor.

Here are the two sensors mechanical and digital...

https://w3.bikepics.com/pics/2008%5C10%5C13%5Cbikepics-1448406-full.jpg

They are identical in design and fitment they both have 2 little tabs into slots on the wheel and the body is held by a lug on the fork and on the sensor.[/url]

I also fitted the Mototeck led undertail.
I bought it in black from a guy in Canada

This is the listing...

https://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Undertail-Hyosung-GT650-GT-250-125-Black-05-08_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a727Q7c39Q3a1Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c240Q3a1318QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem270287476615QQitemZ270287476615

Unfortunately once I had fitted it and put the rear end back together the bottom strip of led’s did not work properly only the middle led lit up which I was really annoyed about as it had taken me ages to put it all back together.
I sent the eBay seller an email and he sent me a replacement strip of led’s free of charge which was good.

Rear end in bits...

https://w3.bikepics.com/pics/2008%5C10%5C14%5Cbikepics-1449516-full.jpg

Finished but with faulty led strip...

https://w3.bikepics.com/pics/2008%5C10%5C14%5Cbikepics-1449498-full.jpg

https://w3.bikepics.com/pics/2008%5C10%5C14%5Cbikepics-1449499-full.jpg

Finished with led strip replaced....

https://w3.bikepics.com/pics/2008%5C10%5C14%5Cbikepics-1449518-full.jpg

https://w3.bikepics.com/pics/2008%5C10%5C14%5Cbikepics-1449508-full.jpg

Overall I was pretty disappointed with the quality of the undertail it is a good design but could be made better.
Also the indicators are crap so I will be adding a couple of mini indicators between the number plate and the tail just under the led undertail indicators.

But a word of warning to anyone fitting a undertail ! ! !

I bought a smaller plate from eBay I got a 7x5.5 inch plate as opposed to a standard (legal) 9x7 inch one.

I then fitted it to the bike using the plate mount supplied with the tail unit.

I thought it would clear the rear wheel but I was wrong.

It starts off melting the bottom of the plate....

https://w3.bikepics.com/pics/2008%5C10%5C13%5Cbikepics-1448445-full.jpg

Then when you go down a road with pot holes and leave it for a week then it ends up like this...

https://w3.bikepics.com/pics/2008%5C10%5C13%5Cbikepics-1448443-full.jpg

https://w3.bikepics.com/pics/2008%5C10%5C13%5Cbikepics-1448444-full.jpg

However unlike adamk’s the plastic plate mounting didn’t break.

So then I bought a new one from the same eBay seller (he is very good the plates are good quality and it is next day delivery)

So I then made a basic mount out of 0.8mm steel sheet which took the plate further back and tilted upwards to clear the wheel even further.

But doing about 60/70mph I heard a big crunch I guessed it was the plate snapping off so carried on assuming it had flown off somewhere in the middle of the A40

Then when I got to work I took a look and not surprisingly there was no number plate attached to the back of my bike.
But upon closer inspection I found the plate wedged in front of the rear wheel in between the swing arm, but the plate had been rubbing on the rear wheel for the last 6 miles so it had a perfect oval on it....

https://w3.bikepics.com/pics/2008%5C10%5C13%5Cbikepics-1448442-full.jpg

So for the last week I have been riding without a plate which is a bit scary that the police might pull me but I carry the broken plate in the boot so I can prove that it is broken.

So I have now ordered another one from the same guy on eBay but this time I’m gonna mount it on some thicker steel sheet with some reinforcing strips on the back.

I also fitted the Larry cook jet kit.

Bought from him on eBay and again shipped from Canada.
This is what you get in the post...

https://w3.bikepics.com/pics/2008%5C10%5C13%5Cbikepics-1448434-full.jpg

Along with a set of photos and corresponding instructions

This is the only pic I have of the carbs of the bike...

https://w3.bikepics.com/pics/2008%5C10%5C13%5Cbikepics-1448430-full.jpg

The kit has certainly improved the performance of the bike you have more power all the way through the rev range.
But I am having issues in the lower revs but I’m working on that now.

The last thing..

I also fitted a new horn.
Specifically a Stebel nautilus compact

This is the wiring diagram I drew for it as the diagram supplied is not that great...

https://w3.bikepics.com/pics/2008%5C10%5C13%5Cbikepics-1448429-full.jpg

And fitted to the bike....

https://w3.bikepics.com/pics/2008%5C10%5C13%5Cbikepics-1448427-full.jpg

It is a LOT louder than the standard one and scares the crap out of car drivers when you do it next to their open windows for not having their mirrors flapped out. Smile

So thats it ! ! !

Here are the finished photo’s of how the bike stands now...

I have now switched my pilot jets back to the original size.
That has sorted the bike bogging down at idle.
But i still have the increased power from 2500 > 9000 rpm

Also as you can see the exhaust headers are rusted like F$%K

Can anyone suggest a stainless exhaust Manufacturer for a custom job?

If you back the plate with metal, would that not mean the metal is going to dig into the tyre? Or is the metal moving it further away from the tyre.

Looks quite good though, will like to see the end of the project.
