 |
|
hi peeps someone gave me a dna 50 complete but engines knackered, i have a 125 runner engine, will it go in to the dna frame, i know the engines in the 125 dna are the same, but will the 125 go in the 50.
The reason i ask is this
A dna 50 is single shock
A dna 125 is twin shock
But a runner 125 is single shock, so in theory it should work as opposed to the 125 dna engine, hope this makes sense
Alternativly, is there and way i could put the 125 engine in from a dna and make something to accomodate the twim shock, thanks peeps
ps its for the missus she loves the DNA but she wants a 125 version, hence the engine conversion. |

| yeah i know what you mean but to be honest thats not a problem im just wondering if this conversion can be done, my mate reckons it can quite easily as there is very little difference between the 50 and the 125 dna but will have to change the engine mounts |

should be a very easy mission, the basics of the engine and lay out are near enough identical,
brakes ect are nearly the same as well,
the suspension is the only real difference
i reckon you could do it in a few hours..... if nothing went wrong ____________________ Cook the man some fucking eggs! 01110101001011100110010001101111011100100110101100100001

Your DNA 50 is a 2 stroke.
A DNA 125 is a 4 stroke (hence the 2 shocks)
A 125 runner lump has been fitted in a DNA frame before, not to sure what had to be done tbh. You'll most probably need to change the wiring looms, not sure what engine mounts you can use....it can be done though ____________________ Rides: Honda CBR 600F ('91), Ducati 916 Biposto ('95) |

Hi guys
the reason i want to do it is
A i have the complete bike, also have a wiring loom etc for a 125
B it will be a cheap little project as i am a bit bored
C dna 125s go for silly money even in non runing condition i reckon i could get it done quite cheaply, a gilera runner vx engine is four stroke and single shock and i have been told they are the same engine thats used in the DNA also as mentioned the dna 50 and 125 are pretty much the same bike with the exception of the shock.
i dont think it will be to hard to do, but like to hear what others think, at the end of the day its only going to cost me a second hand ped engine to find out to why not give it a go? |

A gilera runner vx engine is four stroke, still 2 shocks, exactly the same engine as in the DNA.
The DNA 50 and the DNA 125 will have different engine mounts, so you'll have to have a look there. You will run in to problems with it not fitting or starting but if you got patience you will get there in the end. ____________________ Rides: Honda CBR 600F ('91), Ducati 916 Biposto ('95) |

 |
|
Hi there!
I have a gilera runner 50cc and was wondering if a 125 2t runner lump will fit into the 50cc frame? If so what other parts would I have to get for this to work?
Thanks in advance for any light that can be shed on the matter
Dave. |

@ ddaavvee27
Im not going to be much help here other than to say it would probably be cheaper just to sell the 50cc and buy a 125cc, If you're not legal to ride a 125cc (i.e. your still 16) then i wouldnt expect much help on here with making yourself illegal.
Oh and if you've got some other reason for wanting to do a swap then sorry for making assumptions

What has shocks got to do with it? final drive assembly? Just break the DNA and buy something else with it? ____________________ Current: VTR1000 '98, FZR400 '88 Past: MRX50 93'?, CG125 '99, DNA 50 '03, CG 125 Brazil '91, Speedfight 100 '98, GSXR-600 SRAD '97
