Yo guys, around 8 months ago I picked up my 2MA/1KT TZR250 for the bargain price of $800AU (around 320GBP at the moment) with a severely exploded clutch, which I rebuilt myself. The bike has had its fair share of troubles (didn't expect much more for the money) but now the time has come to shower it with some TLC.
Will be removing the front end sometime this week to clean up the front wheel, fit new brakes and change the fork oil seals, and also start spraycan priming the fairings after a good sanding back. Here is a pic of the bike when I took it for rego to get things started:

Welcome and good project
I bought mine a couple of months ago and I'm also in the process of getting it back on the road.

Hi
Not sure what plastic they are exactly. You can probably get them plastic welded. On a budget using GRP is the strongest solution, but not something that can easily be changed in the future.
By the way I was told this weekend that you can buy the 1KT Japanese market front indicators (as on your bike) as pattern items. If anyone finds out who sells them then let me know (Yamaha have now sold out of the blue ones, I apparently had the last one).
all the best

Hey guys, small update. I ordered a pile of brake stuff yesterday including a wavy front rotor, new rear rotor, new pads all around and a braided front brake line. Gonna leave the front end together until I get the brakes so I can do it all in one hit. In other news, I dumped my gearbox/clutch oil which looked like this:

Not sure what caused the problem, but its not water that's got in there. Filled it up with fresh oil, and in a few days I will drain it again and fill it with fresh oil once more. I have also ordered the rebuild parts for the petcock on the bike so I am thinking of pulling the carbs out and having a look while the tank is off to rebuild the petcock. More pics/updates as they happen. |

You might want to also pop the exhausts off, mine were full of oil when I bought the bike.

Don't make the mistake I did and throw the exhaust over your shoulder and leave an oily mess on the garage floor |

Looks interesting although it reminds me of a Lego ornament to be honest, I'm sure it will be a blast. ____________________ Roger wrote: Women don't get damp for clingy puppies. Get some better happy pills, hit the gym & buy a medallion the size of a dinner plate. Job done |

Hey guys, my front rotor arrived today, but the second parcel with the rest of my goodies is still a few days off due to HEL having to make up the front brake line. Picking up a front paddock stand from my mate in the next couple of days so I can start taking the front end apart.
