Just a bit of an update on my SV 650 project bike.

It started life at the end of last year like this,

Boxes of bits
https://img41.imageshack.us/img41/9950/shirt21a.jpg

Frame, swingarm, exhaust, and wheels in shed
https://img32.imageshack.us/img32/8070/shirt31.jpg

Engine in shed with box of bits.
https://img269.imageshack.us/img269/417/shirt41.jpg

Bike today...
https://img46.imageshack.us/img46/9134/shirt1n.jpg

Just a couple of bits to sort and she's ready for MOT
Need to fix headlights, (only working on full beam.) Fit front indicators and side panels and sort the clutch mechanism.

Only special tools required were those for the engine and swingarm installation, and a chain joiner. Cool

Jay12329's project bikes = win

MarJay's project bike = fail.

looks to me like someone crashed their bike, took it apart to re-do it, then sold it on.

then you come along and just put it together exactly as it was Confused

Matt I think that reply is rather uncharitable. The bike actually started its life with Jay as a spare race bike that had been stripped for parts. Possibly from more than one bike actually.

Jay managed to take a pile of parts and make it into a working bike, which considering the number of fasteners and specialised parts that go into an SV, I think he's done a pretty damn fine job!

Yeah, I was sure that all of the castellated nuts, engine mount plates, cable adapters, wiring bits, shims, washers, nuts and bolts would be missing.

Have you ever seen the state of G's main race bike?! Let alone the spare one.

Project looks good. I have too much mechanical sympathy to lay a bike on its side though.

Kudos Jay!

I've laid my MZ on its side twice now to try to fix the kickstart. Its good if you're cheap and don't want to replace the gearbox oil again!! Smile

(Slightly OT, my MZ has been transformed by putting decent gear oil in it, You can actually push it forwards when in gear with the clutch in now! Smile

Kudos on the gear oil revelation!

It's no longer a proper MZ. MZ's must only be pushed whilst in neutral (which must be difficult to find).

Wont cause any issues the bike being on its side, its not running so its fine. I was changing the clutch gasket and didnt want to drain the oil, again!

This is Dave, he's my road/track bike. Murry is the pure trackbike, but he's still in the shed. Laughing
