My 2001 CB600 Hornet is fitted with a Meta 357T and I've been having some problems with it.

I have left it for a few weeks and understandably it has gone into sleep mode. However I am unable to wake it up.

According to the instructions i should switch the ignition on and press the fob once to wake it up.

I do this and nothing happens. I have tried holding the fob button down, doing it in all sorts of combinations, ignition off/on lights on/off, cutt-off on/off. No response.

The machine's battery is healthy and had pleanty of charge over the weeks whilst it was in sleep mode.
I have checked all fuses - no problems.

No matter what I do i cannot provoke any reaction from the alarm; The LED does not flash, the siren does not sound, it does not respond to either of the 2 alarm fobs.

I have tried swapping batterys around the fobs (incase one fob is faulty)
As the system is in sleep mode, it cannot be re-programmed as it is totally unresponsive, and the LED is needed to perform most re-programming functions (add new fob etc)

The only glimer of hope is that I left the ignition on for abot 5 mins, whilst reading the instructions, and suddenly the siren sounded for 2-3 seconds, then it returned to sleep mode. This suggests that perhaps the unit itself is functional, it just cannot recognise the fobs any longer.

I presume this is not an isolated incident, as i have read similar stories on other forums.

Has anyone succesfully resolved this problem? Any advice anyone?

Thanks

I spoke to a helpful man at the authorised Meta installer that coveres SW england on the phone.

After describing the above situation he concluded that the unit is shot - and as it is a discontinued model, it meant removing it and starting over.

So I removed the whole system myself this afternoon. All the wiring was tapped into the central "spine" loom that runs from the front of the bike to the rear. Just removing all the offending wires and a touch of souldering to make the loom good saw the bike working again.

Hope this helps anyone facing this problem.

Seems like a stupid problem.

The 357T is an old model, and they dont sell the units any more. So you will need to find a used unit, or replace it with a new model (which means rewiring the loom).

I'm not going to bother, since it needs to be done professionally to get the certificate for use on the insurance.

But I suppose I should notify them my bike is no longer alarmed. They'll probably want some money.
