Just watched the Hurt Locker. Good film, not cheesy and as Americanised as I thought it would be.

Yes Man
Funny film, guy has to say yes to everything.

Might as well post in this thread now.

Just watched 2 films, Terminator Salvation which is a brilliant action movie & well worth the watch great special effects & decent enough story, just doesn't fit in the Terminator series tho. Can't remake a classic. I did love the CGI with Arnie's head tho.

Last one was I Love You Man, i really enjoyed Knocked Up so really enjoyed this, quite a few funny moments.

Tried to watch a cam copy of Zombieland but it kept freezing.

Also like Green Street, Kidulthood (another crap looking film when looking at the box, but a great story)

Here's a +1 to some that have already been mentioned:

Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile, Alien(s), Terminator (1&2)

And a few of my favourites that haven't been mentioned:

Empire Records

I think everyone has covered most of my favourites but I'll list them anyway, in order of preference:

Shawshank Redemption - Just awesome, Morgan Freeman just about shades it from Tim Robbins in the acting stakes.

Saving Private Ryan - I don't usually like American bastardisations on the war but this one is a must see, if only for the true horror of beach landings. Hanks digs this one out of the risk of mediocrity.

Pulp Fiction - One of the only films that jumps around this much but you still get the story line, a true classic.

Lord of the Rings 1,2,3 - I've read the book loads of times and the films almost do it justice, which is a pretty good feat considering the prose that Tolkien uses.

I also love the british films, Lock sotck, Snatch and Layer Cake but only from a British patriotic perspective, they aren't fantastic to watch.

All I can think of right now.

Cheers

Grim

Watched these over last few days.

Crank High voltage, very entertaining film. 9/10 Doesn't take itself to seriously but enjoyed watching that.

I love you man. Comedy, funny but drags on a bit. I wouldn't pay to watch it but wasn't a waste of time.

Juno, pretty good, about teenager who gets pregnant and has the baby. Few LOL moments.

The taking of Pelham 123, was ok but once again very American and cheesy. I got the whole plot before the film was supposed to let me get it, it was fairly obvious.

Pelham 123 was the last film I saw at the cinema (I don't go to often) and it was rubbish. Why did they even bother with a remake?

Lots of films already mentioned would be on my list, Aliens, Bladerunner, Shawshank (which is horrible and addictive at the same time.) If you read the short story [Stephen King] you find out a bit more about the characters.

The Gren Mile is also a good film based on a Stephen King book (which has interesting character background stuff.)

Only other ones that come to mind are the Battle Royale films.

Thumbs Up

Forgot those. You do mean the Lord of the Flies style but with guns and teenagers?

Brilliant films, need to download them at some point.

If you're looking for a movie to pass the time then definitely give 'A Perfect Getaway' a watch. Not great but passes the time nicely & unlike a lot of films i watch, i was hooked from the start.

To enjoy it properly, make sure you don't read too much about it on pages like IMDB, just download & watch.

There's loads of brilliant 80's films.

I'd have a hard time choosing just two, but Highlander was awesome as was everything by John Hughes.

Into the Wild (2007)

One of the very very few films I'd watch over again. It's truly a wonderful film. I don't know how accurate it reflects reality (based on real life, well.. that's what I mean) but as a film in its own right it's ought to be a classic.

Well worth the watch Thumbs Up

You ever seen the original drawings by Giger? The scariest thing I've ever seen.. its like he literally just imagined this thing; when they found his art, the alien was basically fully designed.

Cant really add anything apart from
Every Seagal film apart from
Into the sun, that was awful.
But definately watch
Fire down below for the best kick in the cock I have ever seen and his awesome leather tecnicolour dreamcoat
Renegade Justice for Eddie Griffin doing awesome Scarface impressions

Every JCVD film

Every Dolph Lundgren film, especially Detention, which features, a Harley Davidson that can float sideways in water, the cripple tank sorry I dont know what else to call it, there is a kid in there who is a cripple and Dolph turns his wheel chair into what can only be described as a mini tank with spikes. Also features one of the best puns ever
Cop: You cant shoot me, I'm just a beat cop
Dolph: *shoots cop* Yeah, now your a dead beat cop

Not a 'film of all time', but worth acquiring:

'District 9' - a gritty South African Sci-Fi exploring real-world issues, well produced.

It was an enjoyable film, but did it really 'explore' real world issues? Just seemed like a predictable rage against the machine (evil corporations, 'ironic' skits of black Africans railing against immigrants, aliens that aren't so alien after all, etc).

Nothing extraordinary - a fun romp towards the end though.
