Thats a shame, i thoguht the little 'switch' between the two red dots (Idiot lights?) was the ignition on Sad

Gutter.

I quite like the bike though... I reckon the rear wheel orange is really nice and would go very nicely alongside a blue and white paint scheme.

I Love the front end, I prefer the marzocchi front ends having come from mountain biking (Although i dont know how motorcycle ones handle) and that digital clock tidies it up really nicely.

I reckon speed triple headlights, raised rear end and make a flyscreen of some description would add just that little extra to the bike Smile Although a single round headlight may look nice too!

I personally want a crash damaged zx7r to fighter before i go to uni...

Quite fancy an MV rear end (Maybe a single seat) and cans, single sider rear, Uprated gearing for even better acceleration, perhaps try and change the tank, drag bars....

God, a guy can dream Very Happy

They have been anodised gold and ohlins springs fitted.
So kinda ohlins fakes!! Laughing Shocked
Slight mod needed to fit the bluespot calipers, (R1 etc plus many others)
Brembo brake discs (ducati etc)
R1 clip-ons (see i havent just fitted renthals and said "theres my fighter")
There's quite a lot of parts on it that arent on a standard YZF.

I knew i shouldnt have said streetfighter! Rolling Eyes
I know it's a long standing debate Wink

In my eyes it is a streetfighter.

The SP forks are the same ones as fitted to all yzf's from 94 onwards. They have adjustable preload, compression and rebound damping. The 93 model didn't have rebound damping on the front.
The gold anodising looks pretty good. Quite fancy getting mine done. The bluespot calipers is a pretty common mod. Still got the originals on mine though.

Your seat unit is off an SP I notice. Is the bike an SP or an R?
What happened to the fairing?

Have you still got the standard downpipes/exup set up or have you junked that? Hard to tell of the pics.

The frame is a 93 R.
The engine,carbs and loom was from a 94 R i think.
Forks from an SP as is the seat unit. Although not from same bike.
Think the rad was off an FZR RU?
Coils and leads from a thunderace.
The swinger and rear wheel was previously fitted to an old fzr750 project i owned and discontinued.
Rear shock from a 97 model, from USA.
Rearsets from Isle of man, same seller as fuel tank(race filler already fitted) and the akra system. (he had quite a bit of cash off me Laughing )
Parts were bought from all over so a bit of a mixture Laughing

Never owned the fairing as i wanted to build it naked.
It's a full akra system, so no exup, still got the servo plugged in though, which was off an fzr thou,
fitted under seat unit, plugs straight into cdi bypassing the yzf servo loom Wink

Been playing around with some paint! Very Happy
The rear should hopefully be finished soon.
Went with black Rolling Eyes and redone some of the design in orange.
Quite happy so far, needs a few touch ups, flatting back and the clearcoat doing yet though.
Tried it loosley on the bike for an idea. Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down ?

aye that looks alright are you doing the same to the tank?

try raising the back end up only ever so slightly though like 1/2in or so? bit more of an angular look.

good luck with the build, good taste in bikes mate! Cool Thumbs Up

Erm, as far as i can work out, the fzr1000 exup + RU should fit without too much hassle, probably need complete with wheel etc though.
And maybe change of spindle sleeve and end caps? (swingarm pivot point) my swinger was previously fitted to an fzr750 genesis.
yzf1000 thunderace may also go in fairly easy?

R1 forks have the same diameter to fit in yzf750 yokes, i think, they maybe somewhat shorter so may affect ground clearance n handling,
think you'd need the R1 front wheel then though, and that has no speedo drive. Rolling Eyes
fzr front ends should fit without major hassle also.
spose it depends on which parts you already have, how much you want to spend and whether you're prepared to modify stuff.
Any front end could be made to fit with a steering stem swap. Wink
For advice, parts and a good laugh try www.Exup1000.co.uk
is where i am usually Wink a lot of em know far more than i do.

Cheers
Steve

I'd say stick a belly panel on it, Some straight bars. Big set of renthals, Or maybe even some ProTaper Fat bars.

Jack the rear up some. And it will look sweet.

As it stands, It looks nice, But just looks like a bike that has been crashed, and repaired on the cheap.

Been a very long tme since ive updated this,.
There was some changes/progress over the past year, in between riding both for fun and commuting.

Pictures speak louder than words! Thumbs Up

First i flipped the clipons. Some work required to re-fit all the controls as can probably guess.
Due to a slight mishap with a low speed highside.
one replacement clipon fitted and carbon frame covers to hide a battle scar.

https://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g227/h3llr4iser/YZF%20750/DSC00989.jpg

Around summer a change of headlight.

https://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g227/h3llr4iser/YZF%20750/DSC01144.jpg

Rear was off for more paint.
Shortened the can a little. Twisted Evil

Decided i wasnt that convinced with the change to a single
bates headlight.
I had a Simpson headlight kicking around for ages.
Got it cheap as one of the lenses and reflectors was damaged from heat.
Got to work on that, stripped out the old units.
And fitted the ones from the earlier fitted twin spots.
Won't go into the process too much but here's how it went.

https://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g227/h3llr4iser/YZF%20750/DSC01399.jpg

Bought some ally flat to make my own headlight brackets. Thumbs Up
Got a spare set of forks (stanchions pitted) to shape the ally around.
Cut an old piece of rubber from a silencer strap to use as
dampers/grippers for inside the fork brackets.

https://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g227/h3llr4iser/YZF%20750/DSC01384.jpg

https://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g227/h3llr4iser/YZF%20750/DSC01386.jpg

After some time, eventually got it fitted and wired up.
Have since fitted the led strip i used to have under the twin spots for the parking light.
Rear had been put back on with the last headlight change
after it's paint rework, still aint perfect but ok.

https://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g227/h3llr4iser/YZF%20750/DSC01400.jpg

Last thing i decided to do, was to add some paint to the front mudguard.
Keeping in with the jagermeister theme. Very Happy
Made my own template of the jager deers head logo.

https://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g227/h3llr4iser/YZF%20750/DSC01413.jpg

https://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g227/h3llr4iser/YZF%20750/DSC01439.jpg

Silly really, as just after this was done, i bought a carbon front
mudguard, yet to be fitted though. Rolling Eyes

So hears how it stands now.

Will be fitting a different tail unit before Spring, starting this weekend hopefully.
Hope you like! Very Happy Thumbs Up

Steve.

I thought it looked best in the original post - especially the Ohlins style front end shown off by naked lights. Paint the tail and wheels and it would have been perfect.

i like fighters, and im sure you could call it that,
but to start with i wasnt a fan of the twin lights and was glad to see you'd changed to a single headlight,
i don't mind the one you have on there now, but still prefer the single,
i absolutly detest the tail, itsthe thing that really changes a bike and is the difference between a fighter and a crashed bike with a different headlight,

if you like it then really thats the main thing, buti'd rather have no tail and just a single seat with no plastics than that terrible thing.

each to there own..

keep it up,
a fighter is a progression, after all Very Happy

A crashed bike with a different headlight/absence of fairing is what a streetfighter is, and exactly how the genre began when replacement plastics were too expensive. Personally I love that original tail piece - still works well with the lines of the bike despite the lack of matching fairings.

Chopping the tail down for the sake of appearance (when it's not damaged) is something you'd do on a rat bike or custom bike.

Fitting a different tail for the sake of fashion (again, when it's not damaged) isn't really in the spirit of the genre, although it seems to have become fashionable. Sometimes it's done well, but rarely.

Personally I think the tendancy for fitting a late model tail (where the original is undamaged), usually of a different manufacturer, and jacking it up at a ridiculous angle is especially pointless and just looks stupid:

95% of Streetfighters look shite.

the 5% that don't are the best looking bikes I have ever seen.
