You now need to fill up five blobs of green karma before you move on to gold blobs, so some of you might have just dropped back to green blobs whereas before you had gold ones. Don't panic! This change doesn't affect your actual karma rating, only the way it is displayed! Everybody's blobs have changed, not just yours!

Hi

And I thought grey / platinum karma was going to come next.

Mind you it looks like it was quite nasty on those with red karma.

All the best

Keith

Might actually be better if the amount of reds needed before it goes black was reduced, as it's only when karma turns black it bans someone, and currently all the people who were banned by the karma system because of black karma have gone back to red so aren't banned anymore. Took quite a while before to ban a spammer type person with karma, and will take even longer now. :thinl: Question

Bans should be indepentent of karma and up to the mods. They should just use the karma to guide them. Good justice needs human intervention.

My recomendation would be to make it harder to accumulate bad karma than at present or maybe a grace period for newbies to give them a chance to understand the community.

But one of the main points is that people can be banned through the karma system, and this is a very useful function when in the small hours of the morning when the mods and people who need to get up in the morning have gone to bed and a spammer decides that it would be a good time to spam general chat with their crap. After they've made about five threads and posts before the karma system banned them as a few people rated all of their posts as spam and set them to enemy but with the karma values changed it would take a lot more people rating posts as spam and setting as enemy to get them banned. Confused

Once again, it's not the value of karma that's changed - just the way it gets displayed. Don't panic Thumbs Up

How many reds are needed before it bans someone out of interest?

True, what Korn was saying is you still have to get the same "scores" to get banned etc, but it's just its displayed in a different way now.
