Ha sweet! I'm jealous! I love CG's and might be holy... but make sure you remove the rest of the debris and they are pretty basic engines anyway. ____________________ Haz ER-5, innit! |

so now you have seen the piston and i am still looking for the head from the valve that went through it
barrel is fooked too.
amazingly the bottom end turns and im wondering do i really need to split the bottom end to get all the bits out, is there another way to get any bits out that may be in there? i am assuming splitting the bottom end would be normal procedure??
one other part i am after is an inlet rubber from the carb to the engine the style usually found on chinese engines, specifically a hongdou chituma ctm 125, but im quite sure others such as kymco, ajs, yamasaki, skyjet, jialing and other chinese single cylinder cg type motors would be the same as i have a cylinder head but it takes a different inlet rubber. (need one with the mounting holes to the engine facing the ground and the sky not the left and the right if that makes any sense ) |

For the sake of it, I would look into how small the oil ways are first and if the oil goes through the strainer before being picked up.
To be perfectly honest with you though, I would split it and clean it out. Its easer with a bike so small like a CG, I wanted to sort my VTR out but no space. ____________________ Haz ER-5, innit! |

Is this any use to you? Might be a quick way to get the bike running again.

Other posters are right. If you swap for a chinese copy or later cg engine you'll need to change the wiring loom and switchgear. If you restore it as origional you can do the g/box and main bearings, just check the big ends ok before you spend any money on the engine,it would be cheaper replacing it with a second hand one otherwise.
On the plus side they are cheap to rebuil and a good bearing supplier can provide superior bearings cheaper than honda, don't trust cheap bearings.Try brigand engineering for bearings.
Cos its a points model it looks like the timings been wrong and as people abuse em and dont change the oil they can overheat.
The pistons are ally so should 'nt wreck the crank or other steel components much.
One of the last points model, made in brazil i think. If you cafe racer/custom it ,the fork rubbers and shite front drum are the biz.
The pick is one i did'nt finish off.Its got lifan forks and a late 60's rear wheel and front wheel. The standard decals are crap.
This one has a ohc 'norton' engine which is a chinese copy cb/xl engine. ____________________ nearly a normal tax paying tosser.......with ferrileness suzi100,cg125,cb125scb100n,cb175,cd100,cj250t,kh250,c15,125 bantam, super 6,rickman gs750,xt500,250rs,dt175,lifan125,dolomite1850,metro,Morris220ld,morrisfg,leyland princess, range rover, corsa,vw camper .now struggling with legs. just keep looking for an old scrapper cg engine, before about 79 they were 6 volt electrics but you can swap the coil/flywheel setup.the cb100's have a fancy 'alternator' setup.get a manual or let the grey haired ones at the bike shop set the points unless you want to studey engine design/ignition timing principles. ____________________ nearly a normal tax paying tosser.......with ferrileness suzi100,cg125,cb125scb100n,cb175,cd100,cj250t,kh250,c15,125 bantam, super 6,rickman gs750,xt500,250rs,dt175,lifan125,dolomite1850,metro,Morris220ld,morrisfg,leyland princess, range rover, corsa,vw camper .now struggling with legs. The link shows how to covert it to a cdi.if the engines fckled then its just extra work.get a type 2 cg brazil engine with 12v and points or get a chinese clone cdi with a loom ,simpler cheaper. The external sidecases can be reused so it still says 'Honda'.Not worth doing the engine unless you restore it and then you might as well keep it origional/points/6v electrics to keep its value.
Be wary of mixing chinese/honda engine /gearbox internals as they lots of minor differences. ____________________ nearly a normal tax paying tosser.......with ferrileness suzi100,cg125,cb125scb100n,cb175,cd100,cj250t,kh250,c15,125 bantam, super 6,rickman gs750,xt500,250rs,dt175,lifan125,dolomite1850,metro,Morris220ld,morrisfg,leyland princess, range rover, corsa,vw camper .now struggling with legs. There's also another way to CDI that don't need new pickup & welding https://www.chegongshe.com/News/20074/car_N_412.html BUT the "points" need to be in working order
That config is LESSER problem than "pure" form due to no "amp" passing on it BUT the "gap" ... |

yeah but you still have to fkkukle about with the gap through the tight fanny on the flywheel so its may be easier but not much. ____________________ nearly a normal tax paying tosser.......with ferrileness suzi100,cg125,cb125scb100n,cb175,cd100,cj250t,kh250,c15,125 bantam, super 6,rickman gs750,xt500,250rs,dt175,lifan125,dolomite1850,metro,Morris220ld,morrisfg,leyland princess, range rover, corsa,vw camper .now struggling with legs.
