Hi guys,

My cousin rang me this morning to say that his neighbor has a bike in his shed that he wants to get rid of.

My cousin has only seen it briefly and cannot remember what make/model was. He did say that it is a 750 and either Suzuki or Honda and that it has some fairings on it. It it from the late 80's.

Anybody got any ideas what it may be (from this crappy description)

I should be collecting it next week so will put some pics up then.

Cheers

Why do people put bikes in sheds/back gardens and leave them for years on end?

I will never understand how anyone could be so stupid.

Expect a rotten exhaust if it is. If it's a VF750 expect to be buying a new cam chain Laughing

Having kids would change your priorities pretty quickly. Plus remember, there are a lot of weird bikers out there that just have a bike as a form of transport. No more, they aren't really "into" bikes.

Freaks.

Wrong, one of three-worn out camshafts, faulty ignitors or terminally faulty gearbox.

If it is a VF refuse it, for your own sake.

found out what it is...

1988 GSX600F

good news is that it has new braided brake lines, new rear tyre and the shocks have been reconditioned.

Bad news is there is a small hole in the tank. Not sure how to fix this

If it's tiny and not externally visible it can be filled in with something. If it's say the size of a 5p or is very visible then you might as well buy a new tank off ebay.

Yes the GSXF is the one that will actually make you puke in your mouth with its rampant ugliness.

Not really a bad bike by all accounts other than that.

I dont think the ones from the late eighties look too bad. The later curvy ones are horrid. This one has a lot of retro charm to it.

I wonder if there is a more modern front end that i can put on it. The forks look a bit weedy

I would suggest you pm Stelmer. He has a GSX550 of about the same vintage and as he's repaired or replaced just about every part on it now there's probably not a lot he doesn't know about them.

Can we have NSFW tags on this please, I nearly lost my dinner...

It's like they actually sat down and tried to make it as ugly as possible. I can imagine the designer thinking he hadn't quite done enough then sticking a reflector on so even the brake calipers are ugly.

Buy a tank without a hole in it.

Oddly enough I had a picture of this on my wall.

I swapped it in 1992 for this.

That hole in the tank is how you get petrol in it. They all have those.
