been on look out for a new project, a kawasaki ar50/80 for last 6 months, just find one at the right price as everyone nows how much wheel sell for, i had one when i was 16 years old it was the bike to have in the early 90s was fitted with 80 top end and carb gearbox for extra gear and a small can micron, it was a very quick bike beat all mates on there 50s and outrun rd/tzr/ns125 etc to 60mph, use to wheelie every where 1st in 2nd gear whellies lol, i had stolen in christmas 1993, and was gutted, i bought a rd125lc mk2 with the insurance money

just done a 5 hour round trip (manchester to whitehaven) for this ar50 paid £280 and tax and mot

plan for her is

1. Powdercoated frame/swing arm
2. repalce any thing that need replacing
3. all panel respray in black and my decal set apply that i have made and sell
4. dont know to sorce another engine tuned up,

ie big carb 93cc big bore with porting work cdi unit coil etc

it gone be sumer project and will done on a slow progress when i have money to put into it and time to do it, budget looking at £4/500 on her and will be keeping it for good as think will be lot money in years to come

will take for quick blast tomorrow but as standard 50 will dog slow
but will being like 16 again lol

give it quick wash looks allright in daylight

this should be good, although i think i'd be tempted to do a genuine restoration instead of big bore etc.. as it's the standard bikes that make the big money for collectors / enthusiasts

Project looks great, forks have cleaned up very well. The Nikon exhaust looks good too.

Will keep an eye on the thread. AR50/80's are great bikes and are growing in collectors appeal. If you're making up a second bike, with tuned motor, there is masses of tuning parts available. Have heard of a tuned AR93 making 93mph and nearly 20bhp

Looks mint!

Regarding the end can, I have this sat in my garage.

Needs a good polish, looks like the can would unbolt, and could probably re-dill your end plate to suit the PCD on the Gianelli can.

It came from a 125 by the way. So should be big enough?

I'm interested in how you get on with the alternative rear shock. I expect you'd have struggled to get a good AR50 rear shock these days. Did the RS shock take much modding to fit?

What paint did you use for the frame?
