Still working on this bike lol, running a total loss system, so needed a standalone horn and a brake light running off a 9v battery, wheelbase was too short for a road legal bike so had to have some new shock mounts made, exhausts been replaced for a doma rep, chain and sprockets converted to a 428 conversion with Talon sprockets, one off HEL braided lines made up, Domino quick action throttle, Sump bash plate, also won a competition on Pitbikeclub and won me some Pro Taper grips, red fuel/overflow/air lines, filter.
Then the bloody forks had to be swapped from Left to right, front wheel removed and run the wrong way round, and new caliper to adjust for spacing.
It's turning into a nightmate, Only the frame and wheels are original now :surprise: EVERYthing has been upgraded. It's certainly turned into a "build it don't buy it" bike.
I want to start doing some MTB so got a lid to use on the pitbike and mountain bike.
Troy Lee D2 Palmer Carbon FTW.

I have never got my money's worth out of any crash-hat I have bought in the last twenty years.... I ent crashed!
Safety wear is the last line of defence; wont stop you crashing, just how much it gonna hurt if you do.
Trick is not to crash in the first place.
I dont put a crash helmet on to walk to the corner shop or cross the road, and I'm far more likely to get injured as a pedestrian doing that, than I am riding around the 20mph/30mph streets popping out for a pack of fags or a pint of milk.
WTF would I want to spend twenty minutes suiting up like a power ranger... in leather that provides loads of abrasion resistance for a long distance, high speed slide along tarmac, on a race track, to ride two miles down 30mph roads to screw-fix, where even if I DID come off, biggest risk is hitting something hard and unyeilding that would brake bones and mash internal organs, no leathers would offer much protection against, anyway?
But hey, dont make an informed decision on what to wear for yourself, dont apply logic and common sense, let your fear rule your reason, and just follow the PC mantra, and insist that leathers are 'essential', because, well, they create an invulnarability field around the wearer dont they? |
Same. I go to the shop I just put on the lid (compulsory), and gloves. I just dont like riding without gloves. I am not doing the astronaut thing unless I am doing gravel.
The OP is facing the typicla convenience and comfort vs protection. When biking becomes a hassle, to me you crossed that line ____________________ 2011 KTM 990 Dakar
