lb for lb carbon should be stronger than a casting. In theory. But getting the fibre laid up and in the correct places to achieve the structural integrity of a 'simple' alloy casting is the pig.
High tech alloys could be as expensive as the carbon though.

If they use it on planes then it's good for a bike. Wings and fuselage are commonly made out of carbon. They don't make aeroplane undercarriage out of carbon yet. Smile
