I know G is going to be banging his head against a brick wall asking why didn't I buy something bigger, taller, faster and much more orange! Laughing

But here's a couple of crappy phone pics of my 1986 Kawasaki KMX125. Will get some better pics soon, and I have some re-production original decals on the way from the Image works and a couple of new original parts from Kawasaki as well. Credit to the guy I brought it from as IMO he has done a brilliant quality restoration on it! Could it be the best white KMX in the country?

Just looking forward to being able to ride it now! Smile

Cheers.

I suppose really it is brand new in effect, as everything was stripped cleaned painted or plated and rebuilt by the previous owner.

The panels were professionally re-sprayed and filled and repaired. All the original fasteners have been re-plated and everything else was either powder coated or painted. The wheels have been re-built with stainless spokes and powder coated hubs and rims too.

TBH it is a bit too clean, but because of this it's never going to see dirt again in my ownership, I just couldn't do that to it!

I've still got my 200, and that's now going to get a full mechanical re-build and a powder coated frame, but with the original plastics just cleaned up and as many bits re-furbed and re-used as possible.

I really don't think even cash permitting that I'm capable of a resto as good as the guy did on this one, so my 200 will have a tidy up and any really worn out stuff replaced, and then it will become my green laner, as there's no point in having two road going KMX's is there? Wink

It would be nice to built a fruity breathed on 200cc engine for this one, but id rather keep it original as a 125 TBH.

Might still get a KTM EXC one day though who knows?

it looks even better than it did on the eBay listing !

As you know I was watching this bike too on the bay, as its by far the best example of an '86 which I've seen.

Cheers Dave, yeah I'm chuffed with it TBH.
I'm still waiting on some decals to be sent out to finish it off, and I have a genuine new gear lever and rear brake hose grommet ready to fit.

It runs on pre-mix, and the original oil tank is still in place. I had a look to see if I could remove it and have an alloy box made to fit in it's place, but the shape of the oil tank is very narrow and I'd not get any usable storage area by removing it. What I might do is fit a tap to the oil feed hose and use the tank as a reservoir to carry a litre of oil to measure out for re-filling.

Would having the kick start lever chromed be a bit too tarty though? I had the Kick start lever chromed on my TY175 and it looked great so I kind of want to do it again lol!
