8 days ago I finally bought the bike I had been eyeing up for a few weeks.

Previously I had never been a fan of the ZX7's but then seeing this one in the flesh changed that. The more I viewed it the more it grew on me.

It's in pretty condition for a P2 model (1997), so I will let the pics to the talking:

Very nice. I've been appreciating the no fuss stealth look recently. Is your gear all black as well?

Cheers for the comments Thumbs Up

My gear is all black apart from my helmet which is white Embarassed so nearly Slimc.

As for mods.............. hmmmmmmmmmmm.

I have spoke to people in the ZX-7r owners club who have suggested:

Quote:
" a jet kit; factory pro or dynojet and the float bowl mod and then a plus 4 advancer....... and finally some dyno time all in all probs 500 quid and itll be sorted"

So in time I would go with that I reckon.

Aesthetically, i'm very much torn between leaving it OEM standard, which it is in the pics (even the can is OEM). Or completely going down blacking everything up so:

Wheels powder coated black.
New can which i'm thinking of just getting another Black OEM one and stubby'ing it as I think they really suit the bike better than a metal/silver coloured can.
Frame and sub frame powder coated black.
Black HEL brake lines.
Get rid of Pillion pegs and handles and sticking on a black exhaust hanger.
Black rearsets if I can find any. Anyone any ideas (non chinese ones ie Dan Moto)?
Tail-tidy.
Bottom of the forks painted black.
Swapping the 6 pot Tok-shit-co for 4 pot Nissins and obviously painting those balck too.

So basically, pick the bike up and dip it in a big black tin of paint.

I will warm you about fitting jet kits to one of these.

They are an utter twat to setup. So much so I never bothered as it ruined the silky smooth power delivery it has as standard.

Mine was completely standard bar a -1 front sprocket and some suspension tweaks.

If it runs wide in corners, use the nut adjuster on the front forks to lower the front ride height.

Great bikes.

Thanks for the heads up evoboy, much appreciated.

Apparently there is a good dyno place just 20 miles from me where a few ZX7 owners have had theirs done and are being positive about the place.

Suspension wise, I need to do some checks and see what settings it is currently at. It seems pretty good on current settings though.

Powder coating all the silver bits the same colour as the wheels, could look very subtle and tasteful.

I'm not too sure but I think one obvious way is that the ZX7 had only one ram air inlet on the upper fairing and the ZX7R had 2 inlets, on each side of the headlights.

Both are ZX7R, the one that you are referring to is '93 and the one in the picture is post '96. Both are also ZXR 750, there were H, J, K, L (the '93), P1-6 ('96-'01) and an N I think. Thumbs Up

And except the H1/2 there were also R versions of those bikes.

What really impresses me about this post is, they appear to have joined just to answer a question that nobody has asked.

Nice set of photos, it's good you took the trouble to find an interesting backdrop to photograph the bike against Thumbs Up
