2014 see's a new development in road racing for new riders in the UK. New for 2014 is the requirement for all new road racers to be assessed on track for riding ability along with the usual classroom courses and associated fees, eye tests and licensing applications.

Hottrax Motorsport are embracing these new changes and are introducing a series of both training and race school events early season and a completely new race series for novice riders in 2014.

To obtain an ACU Road Race licence in 2014 you are able to attend our race schools on the following dates and at the end of the day you will have applied for your 2014 race licence. These schools are not club specific so anyone may do them but naturally we hope you will decide to start your racing with Hottrax Motorsport!

The events include a mix of classroom training, technical seminars on bike preparation, sessions on track with instructor assessments, practice race starts and procedures, club introductions and many other useful and practical things to help make your first race event go as smoothly and enjoyably as possible.

To supplement the events we are also running pre season track days in different groups.

The price of the race school includes the classroom CTC course, track sessions, Hottrax Club Membership, Eye Test and Coach Assessment. There is also priceless information and experience given on the events

The only extra costs are for your ACU licence application which we will do online at the event! The ACU charge around £43 for a licence application.

DATES FOR THE SCHOOL AND ACU LICENCE ASSESMENTS

OULTON PARK - 19TH FEBRUARY £160

CADWELL PARK - 23RD FEBRUARY £160

SNETTERTON - 2ND MARCH £160

Got a link to a source that confirms that a full A road license is not applicable for evidence of being able to ride a bike and that an assessment is necessary for full road license holders?

I have looked and cannot find anything

Thats correct for 2014, a Full Category A DVLA bike driving licence is no longer accepted as proof, you must now be assessed on track regardless

Whatever bike you take with you to do the assessment with, do we need to make sure that it meets ACU safety regs, in terms of lockwiring and belly pans etc, or is any road bike permitted for the assessment?

Any bike is ok, it does not have to conform to any ACU regulations for training, a road bike is ok as well

Are there any more dates being planned for later on in the year, around June/July?

I really don't fancy doing it on a tatty commuter er-5 with equally commuterish tyres.

But the F-400 bike won't be ready till mid-season
