Not really much of an update but my exhaust gasket turned up today so shall be fitting that this weekend.
I'm tempted to fit my old wiring loom as I can't seem to find a GS loom anywhere and the GN plugs seem to be different, Just really don't like the idea of removing a old knackered loom to replace it with another 27 year old loom. At least I know everything worked on mine......A few years ago anyway.
Unless some super expert genius has a link to a loom to fit 1986 GS 125 ____________________ Current: Gsxr 600 Srad - GS125 - DT125

Not a massive update especially as it's the first update since May
But been having a bit of a play around to see why some of the Instrument lights would work occasionally and dug out my old instrument loom as I knew everything worked including the gear indicator (Except 5th which had a blown bulb.
The old loom has been chopped and taped at some point so I couldn't be bothered to unwind it and possibly fix it.

About 15 minutes of fiddling
https://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb259/Squeaky_86_2007/imagejpg2-6.jpg
Although contained in the history of this bike is a point at which Iv lost the little Plastic chrome clock surround
https://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb259/Squeaky_86_2007/imagejpg4-2.jpg
Ill have to have a proper hunt around later as technically I should have 2 yet I cant seem to find 1.
Ordered some Front pads this morning which should arrive before the weekend and give me something to do. I would've had it booked in for an MOT if it wasn't for the fact I bought the K1 which has skinted me right out and these electronic pains in the arse. ____________________ Current: Gsxr 600 Srad - GS125 - DT125

I know that to you guys this is just some working lights but for me this is hours and hours of fixing someone else's cock ups.
I now have working indicators both sides and front and rear sidelights with a functioning instrument panel, all except the neutral light but I'm so chuffed to have fixed all the other stuff I'm not to bothered by that at the moment.

Can't wait to put some new pads in, some air in the tyres and a pair of new brake light switches and it's MOT time. ____________________ Current: Gsxr 600 Srad - GS125 - DT125

Good work
Wiring can be a headache at the best of times but when you're dealing with someone elses bodges it can have you in knots
Very satisfying when you get results though |

Well got home from work today and couldn't wait to get started on the bike
Sorted out the last few electrical problems and now have Neutral light full beam and winkers on the clocks
https://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb259/Squeaky_86_2007/imagejpg1-23.jpg
And that's right where the good stuff ends.
Was going through my box of bits which has a few spare parts in it and noticed this hideously greasy gritty rank rubber thing and thought I don't remember removing that.
Obviously the part in question is the chain runner that bolts between the swing arm and the frame, looked on the bike and like a twat I hadn't put it on as the donor bike didn't have 1.
Knew this wasn't going to be fun as it meant un bolting the whole rear end removing swing arm and putting it where it should be, and here's where it got worse. I unbolted everything Engine/swing arm mount bolt, shocks, bla bla bla bla, nothing was still attached but still wouldn't come off.
Gave it a wiggle and the right rear shock popped the plastic mudguard/cover off and F*cked that up and the swinger arm shat it's bush out by snapping half of the cast off. Can already tell as well as being expensive it's going to be a ball ache to remove the old knackered bushes.
Didn't take any pictures as I probably would have put my torque wrench through the screen of the iPad I was so F*cked off. ____________________ Current: Gsxr 600 Srad - GS125 - DT125

Well making mistakes is what makes us human.... and besides... a bike build would be boring if everything went smoothly
I know it's a pain and something you could have done without but it won't be too expensive for bushes will it? |
