It seems the search index did not survive the repairs intact, and was still corrupted. This led to further errors when posting, especially with long posts (more words to be indexed), with the corruption only getting worse and posts taking longer and longer to submit.
I've thrown the corrupted search index away now, and it will have to be rebuilt in the background. This works in reverse date order, so if you try to search for anything using phpBB search function, you won't find any posts at the moment. As the rebuild runs, more and more posts will make their way into the index until eventually it catches up to the very first posts on the forum. It tries to be clever and only do its work when server load is very light, but at certain times the forum might be a little slower to respond with this going on in the background...
I've also changed the way posts are indexed in general:
- Previously, the post was indexed for search as soon as you posted it - which could lead to a delay in submitting, or the infamous timeout error.
- Now, new posts are no longer indexed until the background indexing process finds them. This will mean that you should find posts submit a lot quicker, but might not show up in search for up to a day.
Hopefully this time that really is the last of the problems. Fuck disk failures, seriously. ____________________ 3516 Miles, 11 Countries |
