My GL1500 Goldwing. Lovely tourer with all the bells and whistles. The 1800 Wing I had later was a much better all round bike but for some reason I never liked it as much.

Of my old bikes 2 stand out in my memory, an RD250 and a Kawasaki Z650C. I loved both.

Do you have any pictures or videos of that? I'd like to see it. Smile

~I loved all the LC's and powervalves I had but after I discovered proper suspension setup things changed a lot, most bikes with cheap unadjustable forks and shocks are ok for a while, but after my first properly setup FZR600 foxeye I only go for bikes with tuneable suspension, and have found inner peace with a 675 street triple R, the best bike I've ever owned

ZZR600... yeah, I know.

Still, it's been a very capable workhorse but a change to something modern is long overdue.

My old boneshaker Z400 twin
Don't really know why as it handled like a pig, wasn't a comfortable ride above 80 and the crankshaft balance sprocket was a complete pain in the arse (I did get a very competent local engineering weldshop to rebuild the sprocket though).
It just had that 'Niiiice' factor, albeit in a very understated manner. Since then I've been a fan of Kwaks.

On the plus side the engine felt like it had enough low down torque to be able to pull a tractor out of a ditch.

Edit: I'll just take off the rose tinted specs now. Wink

It's got to be my VFR800 which I bought new in September 2001 and enjoyed for 5 years and 40k miles of scratching, touring (Scotland & Europe), weekends away and ride outs. It was quick, comfortable and handled well enough to keep up with and frequently embarrass sportier bikes in the twisties Cool

I'm hoping my new R1200GS LC is going to be a keeper - I'm loving it so far : Mr. Green

Every time I see that I still think it looks stunning, absolute shame how it ended up Sad

@Shaggy.D.A how much would you be after for the Savage if you decide to part with it?

Not sure yet, only really had the thought this week. Without checking, I'm guessing somewhere around the grand mark.

TZR 125 - my second bike (after the CB125). It was the first bike which actually got me into biking. The CB125 was OK but it just felt like transport - I never overtook anything nor filtered, it simply had no power in comparison. The TZR felt like an absolute rocket when I first test rode it, so much fun - I wish I could get that feeling again.

I nearly bought one of these the other day! There was one going in Derby for £300. Advert said it had stood in a garage for 14 years so I ummed and ahhhed a bit before thinking "fuck it, worth a look"

It had just sold. How I wept.

By all accounts I should've loved the CG125 BR-K. I didn't. It handled like crap, the brakes were wooden and it kicked back ( I crashed it..possibly on purpose).
The first love was a XL125 (1983) a bike with similar power output but actually gave me confidence.

The XL125 was how I (started) to learn what to do with limited grip etc. Carting an extra 5ltrs of fuel and messing about in an old quarry is not to be underrated.

CB250RS (1980) Love is blind. Any shortcomings are overlooked because as a complete package you won't find many better.

ST2 (2000) As above but you can find many more that are better as bikes. I love it because at this moment it offers me everything I need. It's reliable, affordable to run. Easy to service. It hauls ass just fast enough for me to feel in complete control. Handling is predictable, brakes are great..including the rear. It sounds like a Ducati should. Loud and Brash with a faint whiff of tractor.

Ok cool, just a friend is doing his A2 and is dead set on a Virago 250 for £800, keep telling him he could get more for his money with either the 535 or an LS 650, I'll let him know Thumbs Up

Yeah. A 535 is a far better prospect. They're easier to find, cope with the motorway better and is generally still not enough power to get you into trouble. I had one for a good year or two and loved it. It's just as light as the 250 really, maybe only a kg or few in it.

Either of my two race bikes....

Earlystocks X7.
Cheap as chips (back in the day), crashproof, chronically unreliable, so easy to tear apart and put back together, unbelieveable handling (seriously you would not believe how bad it was), easy to tune you'll never forget your first grid!
https://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh90/expat2000_2008/bikes/x7_2_zps546f6454.jpg

or

DCM Rotax 500, built by Dave Camier, air cooled four stroke single,
Noise, rawness, noise, simplicity, noise, how simple and pure does it get....and the noise (once tested at 120dB at Mallory)
https://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh90/expat2000_2008/bikes/rotax_zpsf464a688.jpg
That was in 1992...bike was 11 years old by then .... and it's still in use, not by me sadly.

https://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh90/expat2000_2008/bikes/racer_zpse89dd068.jpg

Looking good for a 33 year old bike, I think.
