Parked up in a motorcycle park in Bloomsbury London WC1 is a black honda CB250 2003 with 306 miles on the clock and NO speedo cable.

Should I report this or should I not get involved?

Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

That's some really serious crime you spotted, call 999 and I'm sure you'll then be contacted by the Met Police Specialist, Organised & Economic Crime unit. Thumbs Up

Jesus, living up to your forum title a bit too much aren't you?

Unless you figure it was stolen, in which case fair play, an actual crime with a real victim, the circumstances hardly warrant assuming it was stolen tho. Neutral

Since you asked the question.

I think you ought to mind your own business a bit more and other peoples a bit less.

You are aware that it is in no way illegal to have an odometer fitted to your motorcycle reading an incorrect mileage? It's only illegal if you represent that as the correct mileage at the point of sale.

I am certain the authorities have much better things to do with their time and public money than investigate a minor technical breach of construction and use regulations. And if they don't, they ought to.

Also, nobody likes a grass.

That is outrageous!

In a what twisted world do we live, when people don't want to know how fast or even how far they are going on their motorcycles. I demand you to call the police this instant. There shall not be motorcycles without odometers on the streets, this is not a race track. Knowing how fast and far you're going is not a question of personal matter, but public safety matter. In fact, I feel sick of people that think, they don't need to or rather don't want to have a speedo nor odometer. Mad

What else would you expect?

Do you really think anyone else would really care and that contacting the police over such an issue is reasonable?

If you do, then I'm glad I don't know you or more importantly, that you don't know me. Folks like you would probably have 99% of the population locked up for some trivial matter or other.

I'm not trying to be insulting to you in any way but, try worrying about things that actually matter.

EDIT: Exactly what I was thinking Shaggy D.A. People like the OP probably have an orgasm at the very thought of being a special.

Just go to the police station and tell them you want to report an offence under Section 5 (2) of the Criminal Law Act 1967, then outline all the details in full. Thumbs Up

They should deal with you from there.

Incidentally does any one want to buy an outrageously low mileage CB250? Sorry to hijack the thread an all. Oh and can anyone explain to me how to glue a new speedo cable on? Ta.

Have you got what it takes? Like an extra chromosome? Y'know the fucking happy gene!

Keep your beak out. I am pretty sure there is no offence of having a faulty speedo on a bike as comunity directive 75/443 states that a vehicle must have 4 wheels to be classed as a vehicle for the purpose of that directive.so therefore it is not a vehicle so doesn't need a speedo!

I'm not a lawyer so I might have dreamed the EU shite up!

This has to be a joke/troll post right? No way would anyone seriously even consider genuinely asking and/or reporting this?

Wikipedia wrote:
Section 5(2) creates the offence commonly known as "wasting police time," committed by giving false information to the police "tending to show that an offence has been committed, or to give rise to apprehension for the safety of any persons or property, or tending to show that he has information material to any police inquiry." The maximum sentence is six months. A person may not be prosecuted for this offence without the permission of the Director of Public Prosecutions or a Crown prosecutor.

I'm sure they're far too busy dragging people to court for practising reverse parking outside Asda anyway...
