I don't think they are that bad to be honest, you just have to keep on top of them to keep them working well. With new braided lines on and a rebuild they should do the job!

For a little while, then they need doing again and again and again and again...

Only planning on keeping it for next season anyway so a fluid refresh mid season should be good enough.

Found me a beautiful 2CO R6 on ebay with loads of goodies for 3250. Slightly frustrated I don't have the funds to allow Sad

My neighbour has taken my calipers to work with him and he's going to use his compressor to blow the pistons out for me. 1 of them is right seized so I was struggling quite a bit.

About time I did an update on progress...

Forks came back from Mike Turner from Road and Race Suspension who has done a quality job, would highly recommend him, PM me if you want his number.

So when I got them back the front end went back on:

https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/GOPR0001_zpsb1e071fe-1.jpg

Also got it running again after the carb rebuild, low end feels rough though so going to balance the carbs before Cadwell on the 16th.

https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/20130121_194957.jpg

While I was waiting for the forks to come back my mate made me some new pegs to improve the ground clearance.

https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/20130116_200302.jpg

Making nylon plugs for the ends

https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/20130116_210800.jpg

Finishing touches on his machine at work, serious bit of kit!

https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/20130116_212902.jpg

Finished:

https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/20130116_212441.jpg

Got the bike down to Newbury Motorcycles to get a few bits done, massive thanks to Paddy for helping me out!

https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/20130126_120417.jpg

Painted the engine casing that was damaged in my crash to avoid attention during scrutineering and you can see the peg fitted, looks pretty good!

https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/20130126_131303.jpg

Also fitted a new renthal front and rear sprockets (15 & 46 tooth) and the new DID X ring chain. The acceleration is pretty nice now Very Happy

Got everything back on today and did a quick 'test', the suspension feels completely different now. Loads of feel from the front end and the brakes feel decent, holds the line through corners nicely now and I'm sure it will get better when I get it set up properly.

https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/20130127_131442.jpg

Looking forward to getting it sprayed up but that won't be until the end of February after Cadwell and Mallory.

Thumbs Up

Laughing At least you have got your membership, are you booked in for your CTC test yet?

I'm going to get mine sprayed up at the end of Feb in case I decide to chuck it at the scenery at Cadwell or Mallory in a couple of weekends!

Not long until the first race meet now, just over 5 weeks Very Happy

You're racing?

There's always loads of SMs at Mallory park! Would be a laugh hammering around on one I reckon.

What has happened to your ZX?

Not racing yet.. Just fun track days. The WR would be fun.

I sold the ZX to a polski guy. I kept finding worse issues the deeper I dug and it wasn't financially viable!

Ahhh I saw your thread about the dodgy polish bloke actually! Laughing

When you going to be on track? Think I'm the only one stupid enough to be doing track days this early in the year.

Good man Thumbs Up let me know when it's ready and we'll sort a day out.

Do you really need to get it road legal though? Could just pop a tow bar on your car and chuck it on a trailer?

Probably a good idea! Quite a bit going on mine this year Laughing

I'm thinking about Oulton Park on 28th and it's only £49? I'll probably end up jujst hiring vans for the first part of the season as I'm still learning to drive atm.

Matt I sent the email to your work address and basically just wanted you to forward me the PDF file for 2013 ACU License form cause I only have 2012 Smile

I didn't get that email mate, what address did you send it from? Might of been picked up by the spam filter at work so I'll see it in the morning.

Had the first run out of the year last weekend and the bike is running nicely now after balancing the carbs.

Picture from Cadwell (I will jump this next time I'm there!):

https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/MountainatCadwell_zps5ae73a28.jpg

And Mallory on the Sunday:

https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/MalloryPark17thFeb13_zpsa9d167a1.jpg

Ordered a new fairing with an oil catch pan to save me making one and it will save a lot of hassle trying to prepare/repair my current one for spraying as well. Will post up pictures next weekend when the whole bike is spraying up hopefully!

About time I updated this! So round 1 has been and gone you can read the full race report and watch the video in the racing & track days section but I had a little off in qualifying (still raced) so a few repairs to be done now!

Few bits that went on before round 1:

New crash bobbins for the forks (these got used very quickly)

https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/20130301_214008_zps81a7a143.jpg

New race fairing with ACU spec belly pan going on down Newbury Motorcycles (this was an absolute bitch to fit)

https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/20130302_144600_zps01a94672.jpg

Cutting my tail section to accommodate the rear light for road stock regs, this was sprayed white after but no pics yet!

https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/20130302_163334_zps6caba869.jpg

The van loaded up for round 1, more went in after this as well...real life tetris!

https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/20130307_203558_zps9cf3ce7c.jpg

Couple of pics from the weekend of round 1 (track day on the saturday before)

https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/KneedowninthewetMallory_zps61aba27e.jpg

Messing about on the track day rubbing my elbow on the hairpin wall

https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/HairpinMallory_zps744ad899.jpg

Now on to the damage from my off, sorry some of the pictures are a bit dark my phone battery was low so the flash wasn't on.

https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/20130318_192928_zpsa19134c5.jpg
https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/20130318_192939_zps653f2503.jpg
https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/20130318_192944_zps44a8b7d6.jpg
https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/20130318_192958_zps7becc9ce.jpg
https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/20130318_204743_zps553e4baa.jpg

Time to start repairing!

Cut the smashed part of the fairing out to re-fibreglass it

https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/20130320_194701_zpsa141d39a.jpg

Front fairing sanded down ready for repairs

https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/20130320_200729_zps2f7e26eb.jpg

Got to fill this hole, lucky I can use the screen to hold this in place while applying the new fibreglass from behind

https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/20130320_201109_zps06fcaa36.jpg

Sanded down the side and various other cracks and small marks on the fairing

https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/20130320_212322_zps31f3e093.jpg

Next step is to jet wash all the mud off the fairings and start the fibreglass repairs and filling then going to spray both parts (only doing a cheap spray can job as I'm bound to chuck it at the scenery again soon!).
