Anybody any suggestions on a decent, wide road tyre for a 29er? (700c aren't they?)

Got mountain king 2.2 on there at the moment, and am told it will go faster and better with some road tyres on it!

Need to be take high pressure tubes as I am a tat fwat.

They are indeed the same rim size as 700c, (ISO standard 622 rims) although perhaps wider. So you CAN use 700c road tyres BUT you will probably need the wider-end ones.

Fitting a 700c tyre WILL leave you with a smaller rolling diameter though because the profile is lower. This means you'll be slightly lowering your gearing by fitting them.

If I was putting road tyres on my 29"er, I'd bung a set of Michelin World tours on there. They do them in 700x35C. They will look odd on your MTB. They are cheap. You will not burst them or wear them out because they were designed for hardcore cycle touring.

You should also be able to use 28" road tyres. These also fit on a 622 rim.

If 700c fits how about a pair of Schwalbe Kojak?

They do a 700x35 one. I think they're brill, they're totally smooth fat slicks, very light, and fast rolling. They're grippy in the rain too (more than the skinny road tyres with tread that came off) and though they feel paper thin, I've never had a puncture on one. Pointy crap just seems to skid off them harmlessly.

I run a set of Panaracer Pasela Tourguards on my Stumpjumper, not as mileage focused as the world tours, but a good all rounder that rolls well and has solid edge grip.

I've got a set of Deli 700x48 slicks on mine, just like the Schwalbe big apples but a lot cheaper.
