https://www.bikesportnews.com/news-detail.cfm?newstitle=Yamaha-unveil-YZF-R3-sportsbike&newsid=13257

Designed to comply with the A2 licence regulations, the sporty YZF-R3 has been developed as a lightweight supersport bike for everyday use. As well as being aimed at new riders, it fills the gap between the YZF-R125 and the YZF-R6, making it an ideal step up model for 125cc owners who are looking to move on.

Whilst that looks really nice, how much do you reckon that will be new? 5-6k?

I'd love an R6 eventually (I'm currently on a 125) but do Yams always cost a bit more than Hondas and Suzukis..?

Think it's ugly prefer the Ninja 300

Bet they sell shitloads though. There is now an unbroken line of Chav progression

Chav gets CBT - YZFR125

Chav gets A2 - R3

Chav gets revoked - back to the 125

Chav gets full A - R6

Chav gets compo after bum rape in prison - R1

(chav may potato or quadraspaz on any stage rendering the others irrelevant)

...which then results in them buying a Yamaha Raptor and asking if they can buy power bands for them*.

*True story, I was in Pro-Moto (mechanics/performance shop in B'ham) and some chav came up to the till enquiring about power bands for his Raptor quad bike.

It doesn't look as nice as I expected it to. Remember the pictures we were fed a few months ago? Looked a lot more "sporty" back then.

33bhp licenses and the complete lack of knowledge by the police was awesome.

I wonder why they did away with that system, it's almost as if people were taking the piss with and so something had to be done. Laughing Whistle

Still can be done here, if you did your A2 licence before the law change. Shhh!

GSXR's, ZXR's, Fireblades and so on with 25kw/33bhp yet doing well over 100kw? Why not. Thumbs Up

I'm still debating whether I would've got one of these over the Ninja. I wonder when they'll be test rideable. Definitely need to test ride one.

It pissed me off that Yamaha didnt seem to say anything about it though, I would've definitely waited.

Your Ninja looks better, I'll bet it'll be a bit more exclusive too you know every chav that can scam enough benefits will be financing an R3.

Got a point there, there's barely any power difference and the R3 is only saving 3kg. It has 3 litres less tank capacity which idk, I like a bigger tank.

Initially it was "hurr i want a yamaha coz its a yamaha" but now looking at it, I'm pretty okay with the fact I got a Ninja instead.

Also I rarely see Ninja 300s anywhere, I've only seen once once on the road. Seen a couple 636s and older kawasaki sports bikes but yeah no 300s.

Looks very committee. Not really my cup of tea. And 169kg wet isn't featherweight. Could have lopped 15kg off of that and still stayed A2 compliant, at least in the UK. RC390 would be my teeny jizz machine of choice.

Not sure which bike looks the worst, the MBK(Yamaha) or the Honda CBR 300 twin.
