Fancy dress costume ideas? Theme: North/South Divide.

As the title says, Wife and I have a fancy dress party coming up next month, and the theme has totally baffled us: "The North/South Divide"

So far the only ideas I've had, other than just going in my leathers. Is going as one of the Beatles, or maybe maxwell with a giant silver mallet. Obviously this hardly relates to the North/South divide in anyway at all!

Wife thinks she might go as a pie and chips, but is open to ideas for any "related" costumes, with one of us being south and the other north.

So, any suggestions? Greatly appreciated!
Our arts and craft skills are fairly competent. And really can't be spending silly money, I think £120 between 2 costumes perhaps, at most.

If only I could do a convincing Scottish accent. I could go as Renton off trainspotting, flame spoons and pull pills out my arse.

I would do something tasteless and post pics for the lulz. But I don't really want to step in the direction of my idiot brother, who a while back went out in Norwich dressed as Osama, with a beard, suitcase with bomb written on it and a flashing red light.......Got a ton of laughs and pats on the back.
So he then thought it would be ok to wear the same outfit on a night out in fucking Birmingham..........and got the shit kicked out of him to the point of unconsciousness.
