tl:dir 3yr old Corsair PSU went bang, 7days later I have a new updated version via simple warranty claim.

Quite often their are posts complaining about service or products, so thought I'd throw one up congratulating Corsair.

I used to build a new PC every 12-18mths, but in December 2011 I splashed out and bought better quality kit with the intention of hanging onto it for 5 years. Part of this included £115 on a Corsair AX850 PSU.
I've always bought Crucial or Corsair RAM and had a dodgy stick back in 2006, but was treated well by Corsair support so have continued to buy from them.

This PSU came with a 7 year warranty. After 3 years it went bang, which was really disappointing (and worrying about what it took out in the process).
Completed the online claim and sent the PSU to the Netherlands. 7 days later and I've got a brand new AX860 (£140 online by the looks of it). Fired it up and incredibly the rest of the rig is 100% Smile

Now you may say hang on, you bought two products and they were poorly made. And all the company did was carry out the warranty.
Maybe. But I'm really happy with how they handled these claims and that they shipped a new upgraded product on this latest one.
I'm also really happy the PSU didn't kill my mobo or CPU, maybe that was luck, or maybe that was the PSU being better designed.

Thanks Corsair, will continue to buy your products with confidence. Reminds me, need another USB stick, Corsair it is.

Corsair stuck, it's just rebranded generic shit.

That's the kind of price range of something like a superflower psu.

I don't think Seasonic are "generic shit".

Maybe you consider the price to be middle / mediocre. But I was usually buying Antec PSU's for about £60, so considered this a step up.

The only other PSU company I've bought from (in 2006 and its still running daily for several hours) is Seasonic, who make the AX range for Corsair.

Each to their own.

It's cool that you have been treated well by Corsair, but I wouldn't buy any of their products.

Mass produced, poor quality control, poor reliability is all I've seen.

The AIO closed loop coolers are a big bag of fun, or so I've heard.

I can't think of anything from Corsair that I've not been impressed by apart from their watercooling stuff.

Are you sure your Corsair is a Seasonic, as Channel Well took over the manufacture of most of their supplies quite a while a go.

I'm impressed by the number of threads on a motorbike forum about a failed corsair AIO loop.

Antec Khuler h2o 920 with a couple of silent fans is the way to go.

Went for one of these in the end. is basically silent, and keeps my cpu under 25c so plenty of room for overclocking

It's still not useful, unless you go to the levels of Ste then you're only going to see improvements of a couple of fps max.

dunno, makes a lot of difference on cpu bound games, can overclock 33% with minimal voltage changes. and definitely makes a massive difference to my compile times!!

It will make a difference to tasks such as compiling, but don't be expecting that kind of improvement on games.

The AX series was made by Seasonic. When I RMA'd it I didn't check to see if that was still the case and honestly wouldn't have not RMA'd if it had been made by someone else.

From what I can tell the AXnnn are still just re-badged Seasonic with a cheaper fan on top.

Reading some reviews, both the Seasonic and Corsair AX860's suffered form a high pitch whine which they fixed by shoving more glue around a coil. That was 2 years ago though, so hopefully it's all ok now.

I had an AX860. It coil whined its whole life then died completely after ~18 months.

And that's the reason I stopped using Ebuyer. I bought that "premium" PSU with a 7 year warranty and all they offered was a dismal partial refund. They're happy to take your money for 10 years but the one time something went wrong and I needed help they fucked me over. Rolling Eyes

I could have returned the PSU directly to Corsair, but that meant overseas shipping. I foolishly trusted Ebuyer to deal with it fairly since I'd spent £fucking-thousands with them.

Just wanna big them up again, I noticed after 22 months in service my K95 has 2 failed LED's I'm not overly bothered but I had a quick google to see if it was fixable everything said to return it to Corsair for a Replacement. I contacted Corsair who were happy to replace it and offered me a K95 RGB at no extra cost. They offer an Express RMA in which you buy a new keyboard and they refund you when it comes in. I asked about this and they said thats fine but we haven't got stock and will get stock on the 31st. I contacted them on the 31st they apologised and said the stock was delayed they offered me a FULL refund including shipping costs back to them.

TL;DR, Completely refunding me £130 for a keyboard with 2 duff LED's 22 months into a 24 month warranty.

I ordered a new K95 from scan for £90, £40 in my pocket and a new 2 year warranty.

The rest of my Corsair kit is still going strong after many years service. Thumbs Up

I run a H100i and had no issues in the 12 months I've had it.

It's a bit noisy but fuck removing the thing to replace the fans on it. I've got it in a Bitfenix Prodigy and it's a cunt to build in so now it's in, it's staying in Laughing
