Farage because, as much as anyone might not like him, he at least appears to speak more from the heart.

The others are complete morons parroting whatever they think is expected of them. Every time a politician ends up on TV, they treat the whole thing like they're walking on a knife edge, giving dumb answers and avoiding tough questions so much that you just want to cringe at how bad it is. They're like children who've been sent to the headteacher's office for a bollocking.

Only a few of them actually come off as normal human beings. Farage pulls it off at least a little bit better than most. Another example would be George Galloway. He speaks right from the heart. Only problem is he just seems to enjoy arguing, instead of coming across as constructive or useful, so now everyone hates him.

Even if Cameron won't do the TV debate with Miliband and the BBC make good on their threat to empty chair him, the odds from bookies at the moment aren't favourable to Ed.

Why did Nick Clegg cross the road? Because he said he wouldn't. Because of that, the Lib Dems aren't going anywhere near power for quite some time. He might as well not turn up.

Cameron and Farage stand to gain the most and I think they're the two parties most likely to form a coalition governbent when there's no outright winner in May.

Farage has the most to gain, and also the most to lose.

I think for the most part we all know his head is screwed on more or less straight. What I really want to see is more ukip lackies on things like question time. My gut feeling is that ukip is still a non racist party by policy/leader but is infested with those who would be a part of bnp if it wasn't so taboo. They fell into ukip when it was a no-chance party and haven't yet been rooted out.

Sky/Channel 4 will win - ad revenue gold.

Farage is a very good speaker but still has that smarmy MP aura about him. Also he has the freedom to say what a lot of people want to hear, putting the cat amongst the pigeons.

Better would be to keep them all in a big house full of cameras for a couple of weeks.

Debate? Rolling Eyes

Whoever does or does not turn up is irrelevant, it will not be a debate, by any stretch of the imagination.
It will be a fully scripted event, with a hand picked studio audience, all the "questions" Rolling Eyes will have been previouly vetted, all the answers will have been written and rehearsed beforehand! Spin doctors will have been doing overtime and using whatever leverage they have to ensure "their man" doesn't get asked anything too taxing!

There is only one question that needs answering:-

"So Mr (insert name here), which party are you going to get in bed with to form the next coallition and which, heartfelt, convictions will you be abandoning to ensure your lust for power is satisfied?"

Debate my arse!

If the PM doesn't show up, the "debate" will be completely worthless, making all the other party leaders look stupid and pointless.

I disagree I think it will make Cameron look like he doesn't give a shit. There is NO way he will not turn up, it would be suicide. The reason he wants all an sundry on this debate is simply he is not as good at these things as Farage and Clegg, having more people will be a distraction. Personally i think a debate with 7(?) candidates would be useless it would be too busy to many opinions too much noise. That is what cameron is banking on.

I thought this was just a generic discussion about who might be best on TV.

Is there actually gonna be a televised debate with all the main leaders...???

The OFF button will be looking mighty tempting on that night!
I could record it then play it back when I'm not in, for maximum enjoyment! Laughing

I think the only person who will look stupid and pointless is David Cameron. The other leaders will attack him in his absence, and he will have no ability to reply.

He will also look cowardly and scared....

sorry but that's the wrong question ..
. it should be "who has the most to loose" ...
contestin parties do not win elections standin parties lose..

and Cameron has the most to lose.

The SNP taking seats from Scottish Labour is a good thing for keeping Miliband out of power.

If that turns out that SNP do have a say in the balance of power then the number of parties involved in a coalition would be even less workable than the current coalition is.

So what happens then is anyone's guess. I'll just sit back with a big spliff to watch live coverage (courtesy of Sky News and BBC News with their helicopters) of rioting and the general breakdown of law and order. Mr. Green

possibly but with over 40 seats it would make them by far the biggest block
even bigger than the Libdem as they are expected to loose seats
making the SNP the 3rd biggest party in Parliament

throw UKIP in the mix stealing ConDem seats and the occasional Labour one
could be a very different Parliament on May 8th

Cameron certainly has the most to lose.

To avoid issues with being 'empty seated', I reckon he should send along a bacon sandwich.

Who has the most to gain? - the TV companies. They're not doing this to push for a great chance of democracy, they're doing it for ratings.
Often this sort of thing can distract even more from real issues and get us closer to an American style 'wrestling' politics, not that we're too far off as it is. (Facebook seems to be full of comedy-props for political messages.)
