Guys. I want to wear protective trousers and bought a pair, had them altered and ready to go. Couldn't get my leg over the bike. Wife was inside wetting herself. Had to change back into jeans. What can I do? Cool

Take a run-up from behind the bike, mount it leap-frog style.

They'll get easier, or you more supple over time. You'll soon learn what you can and can't do in protective gear eg arms above head in a one piece leathers equals squashed nads!

Your wife had to change back into jeans because she was wetting herself? might want to see a doctor about that.

I don't know the answer to the clothing problem but try telling the wife that you need more practice getting your leg over and see what happens there!

Tut Tut You've been here long enough to know it would have been in Aunty or Random, as this is New Bikers...and getting your leg over is nothing to do with being a new biker. Neutral

Obviously not altered to fit then. Is the crotch of your trousers somewhere by your knees?

If I try to swing my leg over a bike in cheap fashion jeans, the jeans fail at the crotch or I fall over. I check I can swing my leg when I buy textiles in a shop and and my oh so sexy leathers have strech panels for precisely this reason.

Pull them right up and see what happens?

Go to the tailors. Spread your leg as a far apart as you can without damaging your marriage prospects.

Shout at the tailor to measure you again, but as fast as he can cos you can't stay like that for very long.

It's even harder with panniers on. Laughing
The amount of scuffed left hand pannier boxes I've seen where they've made contact with the owners right boot.

what were you wearing under the textiles? If I wear jeans underneath textiles it's very restrictive and difficult to straddle the beast, it's even harder to touch the ground when I'm on the thing.

jeans alone; ok. Loose trousers under textiles; ok. As others have said, they will give a bit over time, but it may be that you need a bigger pair (of trousers). I bought 2 sizes bigger on purpose as I always wear work trousers underneath.

I struggle to get my leg over when wearing my leathers. My textiles are no problem but my leathers just don't have any give at the hips/crotch.

When mounting in me leathers (Laughing ) I stand on the peg. Okay, it looks a bit ghey and there's an argument that the side stand may not hold the additional weight but as I'm just 9 stone I reckon I'm okay. No issues so far anyway.
