Hello together,
in this thread, I will show you some impressions of our tour in July 2014 to Southern France and the Pyrenees.
Hope, you enjoy this photos
Day #1: Zurich-Grenoble (280 miles)
We started in the early morning at home and spend some time on the Motorway to feed some miles in Switzerland. We already know a lot of our home county.... From Grenoble we driven the last 80 miles on the french national roads to reach the city of Grenoble, the gate to the french alpes.
The rest of the day we spent to explore the old town and run up to the bastion by aerial tramway to see the panorama

and later an relax dinner open air in the old town.
Day #2: Grenoble-Avignon (140 miles)
As for the afternoon some heavy rains have been forecasted, we spent much time on the Motorways again. So we reached Avignon short after lunch time and had time to stay in the town and make some sightseeing.
Visit of the Palace of Pope who we didn't got into - the entrance fee of 12,50 € pP was to much....

Day #3: Avignon to Lézignan-Corbières (150 miles)
Our first sightseeing point was the impressive old romanian aqueduct Pont du Gard nearby Nimes. But be aware of parking and entrance fees. If you come with 2 M/C and no pillion, you have to pay € 12.00 each for parking/entrance. If you come with 1 M/C and pillion (2persons) you also pay only € 12.00 fee.

Carcassonne (20 miles W)
Beziers (35 miles NE)
Perpignan (55 miles S)
There we stayed for 3 nights.
Day #4: Daytrip at the Mediterranean Coast down to spanish border (180 miles)
First we planned to make a relaxing day at the beach of the Mediterranean Sea, but the wind was so heavy (up to 70 mph) so we lef this idea an idea and cruised the coastline down to spanish bordertown Port-Bou.
On the way we spend some time to walk and see in saline lake and let footprints:

Day #7: Recreational day in Andorra
For this day the weather forcast was not the best, so we made a recreational day in the capital of this small country.
It is interesting if you want to do shopping - don't forget it is a trendy destination for visitors from Spain and France.
We saw the famous clock from Salvador Dali:

looked down to this illumination of lights in man-shape:

and have a look to the parliament of Andorra:

Day #8: From Andorra to Albi (200 miles)
Our way back to home was first a sidetrip to the Ordino Pass and had a panoramic view down to the main valley:

on the bottom of the picture you see the pass road we drived down.
From there we went back to France and started our journey home with some passes in the Pyrenees (Port d'Envalira/Col de Puymorens) - Gorges de L'Aude - passed Carcassonne again and arrived in the early evening in the medieval city of Albi with the imposing cathedral:

Good news! France is a worth-visit country, I especially estimate Paris. There're many beautiful places there and I think that it’s the best city all over the world!) I often go to there with my husband, because, this city is the most romantic of all and everyone will be ‘provided’ with love there! Also I can say that you will be need in ‘transport’, it’s necessary to move around Paris!) Therefore I advise you this site https://kiwitaxi.com/France/De+Gaulle+Airport where you will be happy with perfect service, democratic prices and very friendly people who work here!) For example, you can use private transfer or airport shuttle, because it’s very comfortably!) I wish you good trip! |
