The effort to attempt to weld that was more than just undoing a nut.

Why do people even bother owning anything mechanical if they have no idea of who to give it to or how to do it.

That is really dangerous bodge job. I take said sprocket and chain and in a friendly manner give it back to the moron who did it.

You might need a new gearbox output shaft if they have destroyed that with weld.

Judging by the state of the welding it is a wonder the sprocket is still on! Shocked Certainly looks like it has been on for a long time looking at those teeth!

Loving the teeth on Borgs pic. Must've got chain slip Which needed 'attention'.

OP, as wr6133 has said, take the nut off, use thread locking compound or loctite, and replace. Make sure surfaces are clean and free from grease.
