This is my new pride and joy! My first big bike some might say I should have gone smaller for my first bike but I couldn't resist. Laughing

S'alright as a first big bike - it's not that fast and it's quite a predictable old lump Wink

Are your mirrors colour coded? The picture quality isn't all that so can't tell. Mine are just black plastic....

Yeah colour coded mirrors, I am thinking about changing the indicator lense from Orange to clear ones. Think it looks smarter.

Might look ok yeah

Do yourself a favour and make sure that you adjust the chain fairly regularly using the C spanner, even if it doesn't actually need adjusting. If you leave them for a bit the eccentric adjuster in the swingarm has a habit of seizing up which is a mega PITA

I've always liked these bikes and feel they fill a gap amongst tourera and sportbikes well.

But my god does the sprint need updating!

Welcome to the Sprint owners club Thumbs Up Very Happy What year is it?

Arry is right the adjuster/cam/hub can seize, although taking it all apart and copper greasing the adjuster isn't too hard a job - I did this last night in under an hour including greasing the rear wheel bearing. You can potentially re-stake the nut, or buy a new one for £20.

Air filters get very dirty very quick so you know, and spark plugs potentially have rubbish caps which let water in and makes the plugs rust. And the rear suspension linkage can seize up and the pivot it hinges on is potentially a PITA to remove.

Make sure you've got the 5/8 front master cylinder instead of the crappy 14mm (the number will be stamped on it). 14mm = lots of lever travel.

Great bikes though, comfortable and yet fast enough.

Very nice. Thumbs Up

That adjuster seizing seems to be a problem on ss swing arms, my VFR suffered from the same problem.

Not that I know of but doesn't mean there isn't one. Triumphrat forum and bikersoracle seems to have plenty of threads about the Sprint.

2005-2006 bikes generally came with the sticky brake pistons and smaller front master cylinder, just so you know. Not a bad thing, just if you get quite a lot of lever travel that's what it is. Cleaning the pistons sorts it for a while but it'll come back. I have a 2005 and I've swapped the m/c and pistons for the better ones. Also you've probably got the not-so-good spark plug caps (I do too).

Enjoy Thumbs Up It's superb two up, the Mrs loves it.

Agree with that - the wife is the reason I've not swapped it in for something else
