I've finally acquired a Mito! She's a 1999 model, I think it's six speed though Sad Still, I got her for the right price and I might actually finish this project. Thumbs Up

My mum is going to kill me, it's starting to look like a used bike and car dealership here.

I kept trying to get my hands on a bike trailer to bring it home but in the end I couldn't get one and my broken bones have all but healed and it only lived 5 miles away, so hottest day of the year so far at 11.30 I set off pushing the bike home, fortunately, I bought it from a mate with more spare time on his hands than sense so he gave me a hand. I got home at just gone 1. Not bad going really. A man pulled over and stopped us to question where the bike came from, the same police car went past us three times as well, but never stopped for us.

Got an arrow exhaust and annoyingly it's got a pod filter, I don't know if that will stay or not.

https://i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag134/Fladdem/Mito%20125/DSC_00911_zpsxuwqwshy.jpg

https://i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag134/Fladdem/Mito%20125/DSC_00961_zpswgdy759t.jpg

It doesn't show very well in the picture, but it's all been hand painted, you can see brush marks everywhere, and over brushing of the racing stripe, giving a great fuzzy line. Rolling Eyes

https://i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag134/Fladdem/Mito%20125/DSC_00931_zpsjpks7h38.jpg

If that's the correct speedo, it's only done 3000 KM's since the last MOT in 2012.

https://i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag134/Fladdem/Mito%20125/DSC_00941_zpsch5ohbpy.jpg

I say "if that's the correct speedo" because it came with some spare clocks, but with similar mileage. I'm not sure which style is genuine for the year.

https://i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag134/Fladdem/Mito%20125/DSC_01001_zpsmnesm4ge.jpg

Last on the road two years ago today.

https://i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag134/Fladdem/Mito%20125/DSC_00951_zpsmq3ptgx6.jpg

It received the "monster energy treatment" at some point, I'm not expecting to find it's been well-looked after.

https://i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag134/Fladdem/Mito%20125/DSC_00981_zpspfuon3wd.jpg

As far as I can tell, it has all the plastics, which are being stored in the mini-shed for now.

https://i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag134/Fladdem/Mito%20125/DSC_00991_zps4ntiz1er.jpg

The seat covers are in good nick, but not sure if I like the green yet?

https://i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag134/Fladdem/Mito%20125/DSC_01011_zpspbbhfukf.jpg

It's reasonable nick, pushing it I could tell the steering head bearings are shagged. There is no fluid in the rear brake system. The front brake felt ace while pushing it. Suspension isn't leaking and seems to be damping well. I think my mate did a top-end last year and it's ran for about 2 minutes since then, so that should be alreet. Thumbs Up

He bought a new wiring loom for it, he says the horn is the only thing that needs to be looked at now. The kill-switch doesn't turn the bike off, nor does turning off the ignition, the key can be removed with the ignition on. Laughing

He doesn't know where any of the bolts for the plastic is, I suspect he'll be finding bits of Mito for months and bringing it round. If I'm lucky, it may just be a case of replacing any consumables that need doing and then a re-spray and general clean. Of course, now, I'll have jinxed it.

I haven't had a proper look yet because we went to the pub to celebrate my new bike and my mate had suddenly acquired a bit of spare cash. Laughing

Dance! Dance! Dance!

Very, very exciting!!

Obviously really looking forward to updates on this! Very Happy Thumbs Up

Looks / sounds to be in relatively good order to start with.

Clocks fitted are the correct style I believe, they're the ones that are on mine anyway.

Ditch the green seat covers! They look a perfect match for my side panels in the emerald green Sick Laughing

Wouldn't be at all concerned about missing bolts etc. Pennies to replace so I tend to just replace them anyway, especially if they're going to be visible.

Now get cracking! More pics and updates required immediately!

I don't know where to begin, trying to take off from someone else's project is quite difficult. The wiring loom is a mixture of correct stuff and parts he's made and then heat shrunk. There is a receipt for a wiring loom in some of the paperwork but I don't know whether it was just a section now.

The rats nest under the tank. I don't know how to tidy this up.

https://i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag134/Fladdem/Mito%20125/DSC_01021_zpstfrogudj.jpg

The petrol low sensor, I'm not bothered because I've never had a bike with a fuel gauge, but it's annoying that it should be there.

https://i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag134/Fladdem/Mito%20125/DSC_01031_zpslmrym71x.jpg

What does that outlet do next to it? is it just some sort of breather?

In the space under where the seat should be. Again, its not that messy but looks scruffy and loads of the electrical stuff al lover the bike have the tabs on the housing that should slide over something but nothing to click on to. I've got a couple of flasher relays in the pillion space too?

https://i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag134/Fladdem/Mito%20125/DSC_01051_zps8spre1a6.jpg

The front lights look like a nightmare, but that appears to be the only bit of wiring that need sorting out, but loads of bits look to be missing from the front. I just can't do electrics.

So many brackets and things are missing and random bolts all over the place. This looks like it may be a strip to frame and build back up again jobbie to do it right but with eight motorbikes, 23 push bikes, 5 cars and other random stuff, there just isn't space Crying or Very sad

Another thought crossed my mind earlier of getting a second Mito and smashing them together. Laughing

It looks like a cracking project bike, and much sexualness in the Mito too!

I think your right looking at it, in that it really needs an engine out strip to the frame job, and everything going over, especially the electrics and loom, before you re-build the thing. I say winter project TBH!

How are you mending up now after bending the Micra?

Hope your back together dude, and I know I keep banging on about it, but for me the perfect summer cruising bike from your collection would be the GPZ550. That's the one I want to see finished and on the road before finding lots of win in that Italian 1/8th litre dick tease!

Not easy taking on someones unfinished project, personally I'd be taking it back down to the frame and starting afresh.

If you've not got the room, I'd put it to one side for now and forget about it until you've cleared some of your old 'stock' Very Happy

In the mean time you can keep an eye out for any bits you might need that come up cheap on the bay. There's always loads of these bikes being broken, you'd probably pick up an entire wiring loom for not a lot of money.

Exactly this, strip back to basics, then you can assess and tidy at the same time. Good luck, looks like a decent project Thumbs Up

Thanks, Steve. I'm back at work now, so not so much spare time on my hands. I only have any pain now from the broken right foot, when wearing my work boots. The advantage is now that I'll have monies coming in again so can start blowing it all on bikes. I love my life full of no responsibilities. Laughing

I think I may bung some tyres, a new brake lever, a new set of indicators and the new chain on the Kwak and take her for MOT, at least then that's one bike off the to-do list. I can then try and get the TTR's crankcase welded to sort that gearbox issue out, then that's another bike done. I will then have the road bike and the off-road bike sorted, so I can then attempt to replace the seal behind the front sprocket on my CRM when I don't need to rely on it to get to work, just in case something goes wrong while doing it.

After that, I'll sort the pit bike out and get an MOT on that and try to get a small profit from it, the money from that can go in the pot for MT50 project fund. Mito can go where pit bike was in the garage, TTR can go in the garden with the GPZ, where the Mito is, chain the two together, then there's room in the garage then to strip the Mito down properly. If I move a couple of MTB's and my fixie into one of the sheds, I'll have loads of room in the garage.

Now, to just stick to the plan!

Jeez, I've been stressed enough having 3 project bikes lying around! I genuinely don't think I could sleep at night with that hoard of yours! Laughing

Just coming up with the plan of how you're going to shuffle stuff about must have been a project in itself!

What's the reasoning for 23 push bikes? Shocked Just why how even so many what did ever..? Eh?

I really struggle to sleep, plans and ideas keep rushing through my head about everything.

I have a 1953 Raleigh mid-restored, a 1958 Triumph Ladies bike mid-project, a 1956 Humber, it has period front suspension! But the left chainstay cracked and needs braizing. I did a 1933 Raleigh, but never use it, a 1993/4 Specialized Rockhopper being retro-modded, an 1982 Phillips Phaser with stuff to do on it, 1998 Diamondback Topanga being upgraded with a mixture of modern stuff and old styling. 2008 Specialized P1 for hooning, that needs work, a 1976 Raleigh Record to be restored, it can be seen in my GPZ thread. Laughing My fixed gear bike was built from a 90's Raleigh Marauder MTB. I have about 5 Apollo bikes for hacking around on and spares, I have a woman's Apollo CX10 Hybrid for everyday use, and the other 4 keep it going. Laughing I have two women's shoppers from the 60's and an 80's women's racer. There's more. I have boxes and boxes of spares, I built my P1 out of stuff in the garage, initially, and then I've been buying upgraded stuff.

I only paid for the P1, all the others I rescued from the scrap-man or got given by people. Twisted Evil

I've got 5 petrol lawnmowers, the idea was to get them as cheap as possible/free fix them cheaply, flog them. But I fixed some of them and then they've sat around for ages,. I got given a cement mixer, with the same intention, but never sold it on, you might be able to see it in my Kwak thread, as it lives next to it. Laughing

You keep an eye out on the TV in 10 years time for a man in Leamington Spa in a documentary, "When Mechanics Go Nuts" on Channel 5, the whole house will be full of half built contraptions and you won't be able to move anywhere.

I need professional help. Laughing

Fook me Adam, I really just don't know what to say?? Shocked Laughing

If it makes you feel any better though, my comparatively tiny list of stuff is:

1, KMX 125 (polishing bike)
2, KMX200 frame and front end still fitted. the back end has been dismantled and stored in bits in and around mine and also my mum's garage too. The motor is in 2cardboard box's except for the cylinder barrel that's on the bench home ported and polished to oblivion and probably totally useless, as the ports are probably too wide and lop sided too. (The 200cc cylinder would have been the only valuable/desirable part if I hadn't wrecked it with my die grinder lol!)

3, The old mans green rover, with no battery, and no rear window seal fitted atm.

4, Cycle wise there's my 2012 Giant Talon 0 hardtail (due a fork upgrade asap!) my 1993 Raleigh Mirage knackered daily beater, and a 1980's Raleigh compact girls folding bike with a Morrison crate bolted to the back of it for shopping runs.

5, 1x 1968 Sea bea 3hp outboard motor. (restored, painted and of course tuned with porting mods, loads milled off the head, cooler plug, and re-jetted carb). It's never been used on a boat since the race tune and re-build though.

6, An Atco B16 Hover mower (posh petrol flymo). Paid £42 inc delivery for it, and spent £70 on a secondhand newer engine with electronic ignition. Then I restored the mower and polished the deck, and de-rusted/ re-painted all the metal parts. I spent over £100 on the engine re-build with all new bearings and seals, new piston and rings, all new gaskets etc. This time I didn't port the cylinder so much, but modified the manifolds, port matched them, and modified the exhaust silencer to a twin outlet design. I knife edged the throttle butterfly and filed down the spindle. The block was decked 0.7mm and honed. It now almost breaks the re-coil trying to pull it over to start it and it wont run below about 3000rpm, but it sounds demented. I've not had the bottle to try cutting the grass with it though. (not that I have any grass to cut in my garden anyway!) Laughing

I've also got a late 50's/early 60's Atco cylinder mower with an all alloy Villiers 4stroke engine, that I fully restored about 8years ago. It can be made to run and cuts well, but is a pig to start with no re-coil just an old school pulley to wind a rope around.

Oh and I think I've got 2x Briggs and Stratton engines, various Austin metro spares and a tow bar for a car I have no idea what its for?

I'd like a few old chainsaws, more outboards, and a real old school rotavator too at some point! Laughing

Bike wise more small trail bikes are much needed, a few 80's 125 sports road bikes, a Cushman style scooter, a small frame vespa, and a KSR80 would all be very welcome, with maybe a V-max or Z1300 to keep them company as well! Laughing

All I can say is good luck TBH!

If it was me and I got the GPZ going and MOT'd I think id be tempted to take off on it after and never come home to avoid having to think of what to do with all the stuff/projects/machinery and brain pain you must have about the place.

Just do it man! Pack a rucksack with the bare essentials (a few pot noodles and a fork), get on a bike and.... just ride the fuck outta there! Be free and never return! Laughing

Can genuinely see why you have everything you have and I do appreciate / respect the value you see in each and every one of them. I'd be exactly the same.... if I had the room for it Very Happy

Now, what sort of lunatic would do that!? Wink

Call me boring, but I think the engine that's in there helps add to the character of the bike. Although, saying that, I do think there is something magical about stuffing in a big engine in a little bike. The chassis is probably massive overkill for 30 something horsepower. Laughing

Steve, I love it. Most people with any sort of mechanical interest will always ask the question, "What if I could give it more power?" So you end up with super-mowers that would chop down walls if the blade was strong enough.

And your towbar just reminded me of a roof-rack I have in the garden for a Volvo 240 Estate. Ask not "why?" but "why not?"

I have been looking at the GPZ for a long while now, I can throw my top box on, it came off a Suzuki CS80 but modified to fit the GPZ rack, chuck my tank-bag on. And go on a little 4 day holiday/long weekend away. I'd only put the things on because it would make me feel like Ewan and thingy. Laughing

I'm just trying to figure out if I want Battlax BT45's on the 550 or Conti TKC80's Twisted Evil I think after tyres, it's a new lever, sort the OSF indicator out, I snapped the brake lever and indicator when I dropped it in the garden like a spaz. Rolling Eyes Sort out the new chain and then it's the leaking rear master cylinder and setting the pedal height correctly so the foot peg doesn't rest on it.

Yeah I reckon these big Yamaha lumps are too lazy for a Mito TBH! Laughing

The OEM 30odd bhp motor when in fine fettle is perfectly thrashable and the magic for me would be having a 125cc that wants to touch the ton after loads of frantic waahhh, waahhh, waahhh gearchanges, with your head tucked right in pretenting your on a GP bike! Smile

Oh and there I was thinking I was just some sort of overtuned and autistic lawn mower freak! Laughing

Oh and by the way what engine is in your cement mixer? Laughing

Oh and your roof rack, well I think it's telling you what your next car should be to replace the shortened Micra with! Probably for the best I reckon, and these days slammed old bricks with loads of neg camber are supposed to be drift slag cool too! Laughing

But yeah, id get the 550 on the road before you feel the love for your TTR again, and enjoy some IL4 air cooled grunt for a while too!

It IS part of the fun, I do it on my Honda too! WAAAAHP WAAAAHP WAAAAHP WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH..... 145,150,155,157,158,159...160! I say that, cos KM. That's scary at those daft speeds. Shocked

The mixer is actually electric, BOOOO! Thumbs Down I can't remember how I fixed it now, I think I just soldered some stuff back together and fitted a new outer planetary ring, old one was mashed.

My dad wants a mobility scooter, god knows why, he's not that old, but there were talks of Cub engines/cheap mopeds tonight. Laughing

With regard to my rack, you hit the nail on the head, that's why I initially bought it. Like I bought a Haynes manual for a cub, before I bought my C70. It's the same reason I have had a KTM helmet sat on the shelf unworn for two years. To spur me into doing something about it. I was thinking about a 240, because my dealership used to be a Volvo dealers, and some loyal customer still come here. My thoughts are to get a bike trailer, then I can go further afield for enduros and stuff, but instead of camping, there is a mattress in the back! I bring camping stoves and stuff, but no tent required! That and 2.3l RWD brick powah! I'm currently driving a 1.9 Fiat Stilo estate. I have been using it the grand total of 4 days. Enough is enough. I need something better.

I do miss that TTR though. I have to walk past it every time I want to get the jump bike out, which is every opportunity. I can't think of anything more fun than messing about on my MTB just exploring short cuts around town, messing about in construction sites, playing down trails, trying to jump up walls and stuff for no other reason than to jump back down again. Laughing It breaks my heart seeing the TTR there. I love it so much. I won't claim it's the most powerful TTR in the world, but it has got to be up there. I rode a standard one a few months ago, my God it was slow. I remember when I bought mine, it was standard apart from the gearing, it would struggle to wheelie in second with 13/51. I am now running 14/48 and it will pull 4th with no effort at all and 5th if I stand up and give her a good pull, I just can't keep it there in 5th. So I reckon it must have about 30 horses now, maybe more. It feels more powerful than a mates 2003 WR250F to ride, it's just missing out in the suspenders and brake department. Wink
