Private plate hasn't been purchased yet (as in the certificate of entitlement). But will be at some point. I've got a set of yamaha winter test decals on the go in order to cover up some scuffs and break up the sea of black.
Getting used to the bike now, and it is devastatingly fast. I mean, I thought the blade was like a 600 on roids, but this is so planted and composed. The ride quality is like a BMW 3 series. It's very taut, but quite responsive. I sometimes need to remind myself that I do have 160bhp on tap at the rear wheel, so any sort of loose road surfaces nd overbanding will cauuse a brief slip.
And I'm gonna echo what G has been saying all along... Litre bikes make you ride in a really lazy fashion. But if you were to use the upper end of the rev range on the roads, I'd be doing porridge. But saying that, it's more of a grown-up bike, and I'm glad I waited until now before I can appreciate the qualities of the bike and have the self restraint to enjoy it whilst bimbling.
BTW Wave, there might be some rad protection/health physics openings, but you won't be driving a corvette around! ____________________ The Tot 2007 Yamaha R1 4C8 2002 Yamaha FZS1000 Fazer &

Sounds similar to my experience with the VTR, I knew it wasn't the quickest bike but I still had to get used to the power delivery of a big V twin. Cracking it open in first will just flip it (with a mate on the back as we found out yesterday, half throttle will do the same ).The one time I slipped the clutch in second for an attempted wheelie on the airstrip it just span the rear wheel.
Bimbling along is a real joy though. Seriously meaty cans, such an awesome low growl. Checking peoples faces on the pavement is a game in itself. . |

Nothing beats going through a village green in the cotswolds with my yoshimura slash cuts at tickover, smoothly droning. The best sound I love from the bike is the overrun as you're dropping into a valley or approaching a 30mph section into a town. The snap, crackle and pop.
Tell you what, it's making me enjoy my biking again. Better still, the roads adjacent to my mountain biking trails are epic! Granted, you wouldn't want to wrestle a litre bike through there, but pootling on NSL back lanes in the forests is as unnatural an environment for any race-track machine. I love it though!
Here's a shot from yesterday

Whole point with my reflash was that
- Exup valve had been disabled and caused a massive hole in the low-down power delivery. Reflash rectifies that by letting the ECU know that you're effectively running open pipes and fuels accordingly. Also stops the ECU from throwing a fault code when you disconnect the servo motor!
- I wanted to lower my fan engagement temperature to 100 deg C.
- I wanted to raise my idle by 150rpm so that I can just ease the clutch in rather than slip it.
- Exhaust stops popping and backfiring since they've disables the air injection.
- It removes the throttle restriction in the first 3 gears (like a timing retard eliminator).
Feedback from my mate who had it done on an MT09 was very positive. Since these bikes run a closed loop system, the signal is fed back from the lambda sensor. Noticeable improvement in Fuelling. ____________________ The Tot 2007 Yamaha R1 4C8 2002 Yamaha FZS1000 Fazer &

I didn't flash my MT09 just for the power gains, like you said, that's silly. There was a heap of things it did, much like the R1 flash.
Disabled AIS system.
Reduced engine Decel
Radiator fan comes on at 88 degrees instead of stock 101...
Top speed limiter removed
Starts in A mode every time
Remapped to suit exhaust and air filter
Unlocked quickshifter function
It's completely changed the bike and my only regret is that I had done it sooner ____________________ Yamaha MT-09 - Triple powerrrr |
