I was lucky enough to visit New Zealand in February. We fitted some biking into the trip, here's a few photos and words about our trip around the South Island.

Quickly scanned through photos and yes it's the same as I'd left it apart from the Glacier which looks smaller Laughing

Aye, the glacier has receded way back. That cave's still there though!

I should have thought that this... Crying or Very sad ...was a more suitable emoticon for a receding glacier, you flippin' heathen!! Wink

I'm sure that, with your rugged good looks and charming persona, if you visit the right kinds of establishments you'll find plenty of opportunity for fulfilling the latter Laughing (see, a much more suitable usage of emoticons Wink )

OP - looks like you had a fantastic time, cheers for sharing your holiday snaps. Smile

I did a 3 week road trip round the South Island last year followed by a more relaxed week in Pangkor Laut
resort in Malaysia on the way home. Epic holiday! I'd love to go back one day such a beautiful place.
We stayed at a number of different airb&b locations on our tour and had 4 (expensive) days in Queenstown.
God it's easy to get through the dosh there.

We flew up onto Franz Josef glacier by helicopter. Then crampons
on and hiked around on it for a while. One of my legs went through the ice suddenly, freezing cold water right up to my nuts. Laughing
The mrs thought it was hilarious.

A few pics from our visit.

I no heathen. They are naturally fading, with maybe a little help from our motorcycles and hair products.

The glacier was deemed to dangerous to walk on. They just fly you over the top now.

What a shame, it was great fun walking on the ice. Got some terrific pictures of me and the Mrs in some blue ice caves.

It's awesome, I love it.

Unfortunately when I went there had been 3 days of heavy rain and the Shotover River was flooded so no jet boat runs Sad

Did do some skydiving, bungee jumping and luging amongst other things whilst there though.

They have a great Japanese restaurant too... Minami Jujisei... absolutely amazing food, we were the only non-Japanese people eating there when we went (always a good sign if the local Japanese immigrants eat there).

Oh no! The Jet Boat was bloody brilliant. One of the highlights of the trip for me. Twin V8 and 1500hp Shocked
You were only allowed gopro style cameras and I didn't have one then, so I decided to buy the dvd of our ride
instead. But a big droplet of water got on the lens and distorted the footage so they didn't use it.
I went on the tarmac luge thing as well, that was more fun than I expected tbh. I even got a bit of 'air'
on the 'advanced' course much to my delight Laughing

Yeah I'd done the luge before at Rotorua and it was quite tame, but someone said the Q'Town one was much better so I gave it ago and indeed it was.

One of the guys when I was there smashed into the side of the track and went flying off onto the edge, definitely winded himself, he looked bad 30 minutes later still so possibly even broke some ribs :-/ Was quite alarming just how close to the edge of the cliff he landed!
